NRL Market Watch: Josh Kerr on the verge of leaving Dolphins to rejoin his former club, the Dragons

Queensland Origin squad member Josh Kerr is on the verge of returning to St George Illawarra from next season as the club prepares to announce his return on a two-year deal.
Kerr is expected to take up an offer until the end of 2027 to return to St George Illawarra after the Dolphins were unable to retain him beyond this season.
Interestingly, the Dragons released Kerr midway through the 2023 season with 18 months remaining on his contract to join the Dolphins. That was before Shane Flanagan arrived at the club.

It is understood the club would consider allowing wingers Mikaele Ravalawa and Tyrell Sloan out of their deals should they find other options while Blake Lawrie is also be free to go.
Ravalawa, currently at Souths on loan for this season, and Lawrie have 12 months lefts on their deals while Sloan has another two years.

pretty sad that this guy has us by the nuts.

I suppose that's what you get when we signed him to the deal he's currently on.
Guys like Matto you need to keep hungry.

He already had concussion & questionable injury history when he came off-contract in 2022.

Remembering BA left him out of the Semi Final against the Knights in 2021 for Makatoa.

We gave him 3 years & PO for a 4th.

Like honestly and some people want to justify why MON should be still be in a job.

Please do Ryan.

The exchange rate might be shit.

But you can go and have your once a month RDO tanning it up in places like Spain, Portugal, Greece, Croatia.
I think he realises that he's going to find it very hard to find a NRL club to take him on, other that a squad player on lower wages.
Mind you Spain, Portugal, Greece and Croatia would be nice countries to visit in the European summer, and the same with the South of France, and play a game there as well so would get paid.

At the end of the day, most fans really like the energy and effort Bailey brings each game, but he’s not what you call a difference maker.not sure that Semrani is mulch different , maybe cheaper.

If the club can create room in the top 30 ( how that’s basically full for 2026 is another question given results) , then a couple of decent signings will be a springboard for next season, fairly obvious where the issues need improving, so fingers crossed there is movement in the roster .

This is the clubs biggest problem , beyond belief we have 29/30 spots taken for next year so hopefully lane , matterson, hands and simmonson are gone otherwise we have 1 spot left for next year, anyone who defends Mon needs a dose of reality

We see other clubs make statement signings, Cronulla, Roosters, Dogs, Tigpies etc, we shop at a level not cognisant with our size. We have been somewhat fortunate with those signed recently who have stepped up, but difference makers are an issue, that appears to be an issue . Why, how etc is that never answered, think we understand we have needs at prop , edge and centre, speed and a 5/8 wouldn’t go astray.

At least the options are no more, but there are some that have been executed that have caused a problem even for 2026. As Jack Gibson said, success starts in the front office, we hope that is now the case .

Lane won't be here, he's taken up a corporate position at the club
