Every club fills out the bottom of their roster with low salary players. Whether they are promising youngsters or journeyman you still need to fill a squad of 30 and pay each player at least the minimum. Doesn't explain why we're at the cap. Paulo is being overpaid, must be a few others as well at the top end.It was explained somewhat earlier, the club signed up to 12 of the elite juniors to contracts up to end of 2027 and a couple to 2028. Some basic maths and some will be on bottom end of top 30 so would be close to $120/$150k pa average, so anywhere from $1.4 to $1.8 million in ensuring we keep those juniors as we see their progress and don’t lose them to the usual suspects.
That’s where I believe a fair bit has been used ., and hopefully a base for our future.
Golden Chopsticks or the Silver Palace?

We are talking about 2027, when they aren't under contract. Walker will be 33 that year and JAC 32.I would only keep JACS and Walker. The others can stay or go.
I don't think we have a ready replacement for Walker just yet and he adds alot to our attack including smarts.
Will Penisni needs a huge 12 months . Apparently he won a bunch of offseason awards for his attitude and training at the club which would’ve held him in good regard with the coaching staff but for a young bloke he’s played a lot of first grade .
He makes regulation errors every single week . His handling lets him down regularly , he also has lapses in concentration with his defence and times he is beaten for speed and athleticism. The amount of try’s conceded down his channel going back to round 1 would be by far the worst in the league for a centre and he’s regularly out pointed by his opposite. Last game it was a back rower doing a number on him.
Both our centres are very limited , low ceiling players .
Penisini plays a lot worse in defence when Kelma plays his side, his defence was OK but this season in particular when both are playing, there seems to be an issue as Kelma is a static defender who plants his feet and is susceptible to a player who steps or runs angles. Will Penisni needs a huge 12 months . That needs addressing with a decent signing as it would make a big difference with rep level centre in the team.and there's not much in the way of competition for those spots too.
He was around in the pre-season, I’m not sure what, if any, role he plays or has played since the season startedWhat ever happened to Gasnier working with our centres?
Looks like good selection too, but you just know that those wines are going to be no good and the hard stuff behind the counter hasn’t had a sale since that fridge was manufactured.
who doesn't love an old school Chinese joint?....
every suburb and country town still has one...

What ever happened to Gasnier working with our centres? I'm quite nostalgic for the days when we had at least one gun centre in our side. Right back to Ella. Lyon was one of my favourite players ever. Even Taka in recent times was more exciting than what we have now.
That's what has had me scratching my head. We always had superstar backline players coming through consistently....from lyon to hayne to Semi and to a lesser extent, inu, Richards, grothe etc....even Scott Donald was better than what we have now.....What ever happened to Gasnier working with our centres? Purdue would be a great pick up and better than anything we have coming through the juniors. He has pace, size and some X factor about him. I don’t see it in any other player in our backline. They are either your standard NRL back or past their best or in Lomax’s case mentally a little piss weak.
