I may be on my own with this one but I think Joash is worth persisting with. Playing his first season in a team that had been cleaned out from the coach down isn't the ideal start to an NRL career. All things considered surrounding 2025 I think he did OK.
You are on ur own. Even Ryles has got a guy to fill in for a year before pissing off to ensure Joash isn’t our 6

By the start of 2027 we will have three spine players with two years together. Plus 18 months with TDS in the side. The Broncos just won with a brand new 6, and a cast of thousands at dummy half.
Mate, I think most would agree that since BA's departure the club has made the right moves when it comes to most calls. On this one, I think (like almost everyone else on here) that it's a bad call going forward, if true. This is the wrong gun for hire, imo. I would have expected better options than this one.

Yep, thats the biggest thing for me.

He doesn't want to be at our club - or he'd sign long term.

It's like asking a chick out and she says "yeah sure, i'll go on a couple of dates with you until the other bloke i really like is free later in the year" Basically you can f**k me and feed me for a few months, but that's all you're good for.
I'd take that deal, provided she is a 7 or above. The intercourse gets boring after a few months anyway and the nagging starts up.

But you are willing to defend something you admit you know little about lol.

it’s a cuck deal no wonder why you are excited.
I know enough to know the club is happy with it, and the benefits are obvious. He will improve our team next year, in our weakest position. We can worry about 2027's roster in just over a week.

How many times do I need to tell you merkins. Don't listen to what they say in public. It's all bullshit. Judge them on what they do.
Im judging him on exactly that if the rumour is true. He wants to be at the Broncos when they are ready for him but doesn't want to waste another year in reserves at the storm. We are the fat chick you only want to screw when you are drunk and your first choice is out of town.

In 2027 we'll have 1 player on over $1m a year in Moses, and with Junior off our books by then we'll have no other players on over $600-700k (maybe Iongi but i wouldnt give him over $600k yet)

In 2027 the Broncos will have 2 players on over $1m in a season in Haas ($1.5m) and Walsh ($1.1m) plus Staggs, Carrigan and Mam all on deals over $800k

If we dont have a shit tonne more money to offer Pezet in 2027 then someone has royally f**ked up
If you think the Broncos aren't paying merkins outside the cap, we are watching different sports. They have had the best roster in the game since 2023, just like they did for decades in the past.

I’m evidently the odd one out here, but I’m pretty unperturbed by this. Mainly because I’m not sold on Pezet being the right fit for us anyway. He’s obviously quite talented, but he’s still very green, and his worth as a consistent first grader remains to be seen.

But given he’s a better immediate option at 6 (or as an alternative 7) than what we currently have for 2026, I actually don’t mind the short-term deal, particularly given it won’t block an internal (and cheaper) promotion for 2027. Obviously, it’ll then be a case of whether someone steps up for 2027, or whether there’s another option on the market, for whether it’s a good move longer term.

Joash is signed until the end of 2027. Surely our COE can do something extra with him between now and 2026. Moses can only part the sea for so long.

its not always about money. Broncos at present seem like a good fit with walsh and mam and co just winning a GF and being flavour of the month.
You need to think about why the Broncos were able to sign and retain all these young stars back when they were a supposed rabble. Everyone predicted the rats would abandon the sinking ship, yet nobody important left (other than Farnworth), and even Walsh came back, followed by Ben Hunt.

I think if it works out well and we have a good season and the Broncos have a coming down to earth type season (both reasonable possibilities) he is going to want to stay. Ryles is backing himself to make a strong impression on the Pezz.

Doesn’t make much sense, gets rid of gutho because he didn’t want to be team player and move positions, doesn’t play matters on all year because doesn’t see him as part of the future along with a few others and pushed them out and benched brown once he knew he was going
So we needed a 6 for a year while we sorted out other options, and Pezet was available. It's totally different. The Broncos don't need him (for their top 17) next year, and neither do the Storm. We do, so why wouldn't he want to come and play first grade? The alternative is he stays at Melbourne and plays reserve grade. That doesn't benefit him or us.
