Maybe we’ve tried a few of those and they don’t want to leave QLD? That’s possible. Not sure how available, maybe Jesse Arthurs , Murray Tualagi would have been better . Shibasaki was probably too expensive and content at Broncos.
That's my assessment. No way Cowboys let Tualagi go early (I mean he is a former Kangaroo and Maroon) and Maguire is savvy enough to keep Arthurs one more year as a valuable back up. The only reason either team would let those players go is if they were making a play for another play. Payton is under the pump to perform and Maguire will be gunning for another premiership - they won't countenance weakening their squads.Maybe we’ve tried a few of those and they don’t want to leave QLD? If the Titans let go of Kelly, don’t they put themselves in our position - looking for an outside back?
So maybe this…Kelly is willing to leave QLD, others aren’t. Tits let Kelly go and sign one of your guys or another queenslander.
We want to win games but how many more games does brian kelly win us? Instead takes up a roster spot and costs money. Whats the fkn point. Lets just try to sign some quality starting players when we already have backups. So no its not the shittest arugment u muppetThis is the absolute shittest argument. We still want to win as many games as possible don't we? Do you really not care when we lose?
If teams let a player go, it's usually because they can cover him from within. Even if they're going to promote a less capable player, he might be a lot cheaper, allowing them to use the cap space elsewhere. If the Titans let go of Kelly, don’t they put themselves in our position - looking for an outside back?
Think of it as how many fewer games does he lose us than Samrani or Renisini. We want to win games but how many more games does brian kelly win us?
We need to fill those roster spots and we need to spend the cap space. We can't save it for next year.Instead takes up a roster spot and costs money. Whats the fkn point.
YES IT IS FFSLets just try to sign some quality starting players when we already have backups. So no its not the shittest arugment u muppet
Or they could promote internally, with someone either cheaper (more likely) or better (less likely). The only reason either team would let those players go is if they were making a play for another play.
We cant save it but then are we just signing brian to a single year deal or multiple? Hes technically also under contract 26 so maybe an early release? If we sign him for a miltiyear deal to convince him to leave early arent we blocking ourselves from the good 2027 players like you mentioned and also pathways? So were signing a player that dpesnt make us better unless an injury happens and potentially prevents us from signing a murray taulagi or other higher quality players and maybe blocks our pathways?? Sounds like a mid idea to me.Think of it as how many fewer games does he lose us than Samrani or Renisini.

Im not saying depth pieces arent important but our current roster lacks higher end talent and is something we should be pushing for to take us to the next level so we can win a premiershipThink of it as how many fewer games does he lose us than Samrani or Renisini.

Sides can be competitive with limited roster high end talent, but generally don’t win anything without a few elite players. Our cap management and roster building is behind the so called better clubs when signing elite players matter.Im not saying depth pieces arent important but our current roster lacks higher end talent and is something we should be pushing for to take us to the next level so we can win a premiership
Where exactly is this higher end talent of which you speak and seek?Im not saying depth pieces arent important but our current roster lacks higher end talent and is something we should be pushing for to take us to the next level so we can win a premiership
They’ve been available periodically and we don’t seem to have the appetite to chase them hard. We obtained RCG, Matterson even JAC as distressed assets. We didn’t pursue Farnsworth as the front office thought he was too expensive. Certainly there’s snot much on the open market currently and understandabaly we aren’t activeWhere exactly is this higher end talent of which you speak and seek?
It all depends how much we’re paying him. We could front load him into the 2026 cap space so that he’s cheap in 2027-28. Then he wouldn’t be blocking a spot for a star. In any case, if merkins think our outside backs aren’t good enough, it likely means we are spending more in other areas of the roster. Then we would be justified in spending more on outside backs and less on forwards or spine merkins. We cant save it but then are we just signing brian to a single year deal or multiple? You talk about this like it’s a bad thing, but how else is a club without illegal TPAs supposed to avoid overpaying them?We obtained RCG, Matterson even JAC as distressed assets.

I didnt say there were players for next year however 2027 has plenty of talent. Keon, taulagi, angus, tino, luai?, isaako, smithies, purdue (potential based) im sure theres more but cant remember off the top of my head. Can you name these starting quality players that are available for next year?
Give us an elite middle, say KK, plus and elite outside back, think Herbie, Coates, Crighton, plus a couple Kelly’s and we have a top side I think. There's definitely starting quality players for 2027 but for 2026 there'd be next to none. Ryles should be worried about 2026, the off-field staff should be concerning themselves with what's available for 2027
I dont disagree with that but our forward pack isnt top tier either. Its solid but doesnt really indicate weve spent all our money either. So unsure where we are spending our money esp without dylbags. Moses earns a lot which is fair enough but not enough to screw over other areasIt all depends how much we’re paying him.
