He played 8 games and won 3 in 2024
13 and won 7 in 25.
He is one of the best halfbacks in comp for sure. But he has been rubbish for us the last 2yrs. Yes injured but thats part of the package.
10 win in a possible 48 games . And costing 1.3

If he has another injury plagued season he will be reaching Turbo territory.
He’s already there. In the last 3 seasons Moses has played 40 first grade games where’s as Tommy has played 49.

How can the club contest the top 8, when we lose players and then fiddle around and sign no one that can replace their pay or ability. Of course, it’s a difficult market but it’s been an ongoing issue, apart from Lomax who apparently got fed an excellent roast by the coaches wife, who has come to the club as a rep level signing since we lost the 6/7 players in 2022 ( not to mention RCG and Gutho etc) The Fox was not playing reps and the coach’s relationship etc was the big factor not any smart negotiations.

Signing Kelly and DeBelin is handy at best, not the level of Dylbro and Lomax, either in ability or contract dollars. The spiel that we are giving juniors deals is sensible, but none are on the NRL salary cap, so who are we spending it on.

A long read but we need to reward the large support base with better outcomes .

What do you think 'smart negotiations' even means? The players might all be dopes but they have managers who aren't. We're not going to trick players into signing on the cheap. They need stuff to offer them, things like an existing relationship with the coach for example. Without anything else, all they have to offer is part of the salary cap.

I think all our progress from last season will be severely impacted, with no signings thus far, and no DB and fruit loop, we will regress big time, with no open window for the foreseeable future :(

Is Kelly official?

Im not at all fussed without DB. Played a fair chunk of this season without him and let's be honest when we did play didn't deliver much at all.
The big concern is the outside backs situation.
With Slomax gone and Russell going we need to sign 2 or 3 outside backs.
Not sure what happened with the averillo situation and Kelly but we need to bolster quickly.
I like Nanva but we need more than Simonsson, Russell and Jac for the wing spots.
I hope a young 3/4 kills it in preseason traiing and is identified as potential for 1st grade next year.
I have zero concerns for the forwards as I think we have good quality and good depth.
Looking forward to seeing Kautoga develop further next season. He has massive potential.

I’m interested to see who other posters would target now we’ve missed out on KK. I admit I was keen on him as I saw him as a natural pack leader with Junz slowly departing the stage. However our forward stocks are pretty solid for mine with the younger players coming through.

Our backs however, need cover and badly. Here’s a couple of screenshots of players we can negotiate with now. Jesse Arthars could be a handy pick up. Has plenty of speed, is on the fringes of the Qld side but isn’t a starter for Brisbane. Maybe float the boat out for Jaxon Purdue? He’s young, highly touted and one for the future. Murray Taulagi is a big body who is a bit of a like for like with Lomax.

Who would you go after?

Definitely Taulagi.

Averillo good attack but inconsistent in defence. Similar to what Kelly would bring us just a bit younger and a bit faster

Below first grade I'd look at Jonathan Sua. Still young but will notch up near 60 NSW cup games by the end of next season. Gives us a bit of flexibility between centre and wing
