I heard that losing Kautoga was Gould's biggest regret of the 3 we signed from Dogs.

And yet the dogs played him 36 games in cup for just 2 games in first grade. Gus was happy to get rid of him because he is (was?) a lazy trainer and a poor defender. If you guys can consistently change that you will have a good player.

Meaney and Wishart both confirmed to be leaving the Storm at the end of the season. Meaney seems definitely bound for Perth, but I can’t recall hearing much about Wishart’s destination (though would imagine Perth is also likely). Would be an interesting option for us post-Pezet.

Pou is more likely to deal in stats and supporting information than a lot of other people who use anecdotal information. He even cops a lot of shit for it (“I prefer the eye test”, “stats don’t tell you everything” being common responses…).

They're both still fringe first graders who could lose their spot to anyone else pretty quickly.

Koutoga may break out and be a gun. But I agree he may be overtaken and flushed out of system. Sample size is just so small at this stage. People are talking him up like he is Kikau

Kautoga reminds me of a stronger version of Nikora (who I right highly).

Marata leg speed and acceleration was superior I reckon. He was fast and mobile and hit like a truck.
Kautoga has potential and a good offload but I think its a bit early to tell

He’s average. Def not a skill full 5/8. We already have too may utilities. Dylan Walker a much better player.

I hope so. I'm not disagreeing cause he has some potential but I think its hard to tell after 15 games. Some were good and some were horrid. It isnt like when Isaiah Papali'i debut and we knew we had a gun edge player

He got an upgrade in June after starting 12 straight games.

I don’t think anyone has ever argued that stats tell the whole story. They are an important indicator though.

Spoke to Kautonga, he mentioned that this is the first full preseason he has had in 3 years, was recovering from injuries previously and always felt behind most team mates until well into the season.

Must admit he is very enthusiastic about his opportunities and said he wants to repay the faith the club has shown.Said no excuses after the pre season he is having.

Marata to me is a lot bigger in the hips and way more physically dominating and aggressive in the mind.

I think so too. I liked him in the trials but he had sooo many errors in him and pushed passes.

If he listens to coaching staff and plays accordingly, i reckon he'll be awesone. If he gets a bit of aggression in him and put on some hits, then he will be perfect
