Yet JA at 18 was just too good to keep out of NRL. A teen prodigy that couldnt be held back anymore. So good like his younger brother we cleared decks and had no backups to the position.
How good do you expect a backup to be ffs. Even Dean Hawkins didn’t want to hang around on minimum salary. Pezet didn’t want to stay in Melbourne. If they’re too good to be backups they will leave, which is why we had Jake Arthur. He was the backup, and he was a very good one. Two other NRL clubs thought so too, and even they couldn’t keep him on minimum salary when the UK offered him a starting spot.

LEEDS RHINOS head coach Brad Arthur was happy with the effort of his side but felt some of the detail was missing in the 26-14 defeat at Leigh Leopards. He acknowledged issues in both defence and attack as Leeds' season had a disappointing start.

“I’m really happy with our effort and our fight. We had some good periods of physicality,” said Arthur.

“But (we lacked) some detail on some kicks in the second half… (for) two scrappy tries that you can’t afford at this time of the year, early in the season.

Anyone see Groundhog day right here
A team lost in round one? That has never happened before. Quick sack somebody!

JA wasn't a backup he played in the GF..

Pezet is 23 so he hung around being a backup for a while (though was injured alot)

Wishart was a backup for a long time and their new fullback had also sat there as a backup biding his time.

Whats your thoughts on Fletcher playing backup will he wait till Moses retires at the end of 29?

Your another enabler that dribbles on nonsense and defends him like you are here.

Your constant bickering with the Tiger bloke that pops in here is embarrasing when he is actually right more then what you are on those debates you two argue about constantly.

And for the record your jokes are as funny as what Craig McLaughlin was on the footy show.
Na you’re right. f**k this place

As for not knowing where to play him, we didn’t have a vacancy at his best position. What were we going to say? He can’t tackle but gee he can run the ball! We want to turn him into a fullback.
Talagi left after we announced Ryles, Russell is leaving, there’s a few others that haven’t been retained, such as Guymer and Renisini. Fingers crossed. I’ll be disappointed if we retain Paulo but lose these youngsters.

I can see the improvement in Charlie and think he will make a first grader, he rips in and tries his arse off. But head over heart I think we have similar style players in Doorey and Morreti in their mid 20s who cover that style of player for a few years and neither cost the bank.

Considering we have juniors in Koina, Polley and even Hayden Bell coming through as middles it wouldn’t surprise me if we let Charlie go to chase another opportunity.

It wasn't the case of Blaize dictating but more the case of our coaching staff repeatedly saying we dont know his best position yet.
His father wasn't impressed and had no faith in the coaching staff. He also left for less money. I dont blame him tbh. Our club looked a real mess.
But on flip side we snatched Bamblet from Panthers and I think he potentially will be better then Blaize long term.
Bamblett seems very promising but wheres he going to play with iongi around. I imagine well lose him eventually unless someones willing to play a different position. Cant tell whos going to be better just yet

We literally had no other back up in the system. IN BOTH POSITIONS his sons played. You don't have to be Columbo to work it out.
You telling fibs again mate?

Jake Arthur got shitcanned as soon as Asi joined the club in 2023. Matt Arthur only ever played three games off the bench while we had Hands and Lussick in front of him. We also had Panthers reject Ryley Smith in Jersey Flegg.

And, you may not agree, but this ad nauseum same shit posted everyday would stop tomorrow if Pou just walked away from this forum, or if people stopped replying to him, which many cannot seem to do.
@Avenger was right.
I am summoned as soon as people start making shit up about the club. It's nothing to do with replying to me. I am capable of inserting myself into any public discussion. If you want to tell lies to each other without being challenged you should form a WhatsApp group and make sure I'm not invited.

Talagi wanted to play 5/8 but we had Brown signed for 6 years with PO's in his contract. So Parra couldn't just offer the spot to Talagi. We lost them exactly to PO's
If Drown had no POs we still couldn't offer his spot to Talagi, because Brown was still here in 2025 and Talagi's contract ended in 2024. And why would we offer Brown's spot to Talagi, a worse player? Brown was a key member of our team. He only chased the money because we sacked his dad.
Moses had PO's and he has re-signed and removed them. He didn't leave.
But you just said the players left because of the POs. Now you're saying they don't have to after all. It's almost like the PO had nothing to do with it.

It's an option to extend, not an option to leave. They're free to leave because their contract ended. Is Russell leaving because of a PO? No, he's leaving because his contract is up. Moses' contract was up and he had a PO but he didn't leave. The PO is irrelevant.
