Kelly will fill a hole with experience until Fox maybe forces him out in a few weeks. After that, Nanva or Renisini might force their way in. Hell, even Twidle may demand a backline reshuffle because he's too good for reggies.

JDB has no mortgage on a spot, but his experience in the 1 year deal around the club is worth the contract cash.

We have the luxury of not being tied to these players. Good.

Watching that game and the NRL the plan for both sides was the same. They took hit ups behind the ruck and also targeted our 6 in defence.

Next weekend the CUP side has the bye as well so would assume a few extra merkins make the trip to QLD..

Samrani is a winger played well there yesterday would have him on a wing next to Russell..

I doubt there are any other big changes unless injury or suspension. Rules will give the players a chance to fix there errors..

Will will come up with 1 of 2 defensive howlers a game , 1 or 2 terrible drop balls a game and there’s nothing surer than him not only not finishing off try’s but losing possession attempting to score on the 1st tackle . He didn’t learn his lesson in the trial.

Overall a terribly disappointing way to start the year . Such a long wait to see your team get the shit kicked out of them round 1. Having said that it was a very weird game . There was no real set for set cycle … Todd Smith was finding parra hands on balls at the end of every set . Just terrible reffing and no feel for the game at all. Parra had to defend a lot of 10 and 11 tackle sets and the juice just went out of them Their own mistakes didn’t help the cause but a few of them can be attributed to fatigue . Feel it’s just a game you learn your lessons quickly and move on .

Thought Ryles also made a few tactical errors in that game and he’ll also be better for it . Bringing Joash on when our big boys like De Belin and Paulo were completely gassed was an error . 10 mins of Iongis HIA was the half time break so those 5 Joash mins cost us another middle which we desperately needed . Joash , Da Silva and Walker was too small a bench . Wouldn’t have made much difference at the end of the day but something we need to get right going forward.

As much as we need to be better the officials need to be too. Some absolute howlers and getting caned like that in possession at this time of year is suicide. Early season is all about building resilience and finding wins which you can’t do with 39% ball.

The other big lesson for Ryles is that Kelly is a last resort option like Morgan Harper before him. Anyone but Kelly last night would have been better, I was surprised Samrani was relegated to Cup as he is way bigger and better than Kelly.

When did i glug the squad you utter cretin?? i've been critical of the back line depth and the fact we haven't landed a big name. I was critical of the Pezet Cuck deal, embarrassed by the Kelly signing and thought the JDB one was very meh. You are the king of glugging you disingenuous merkin.
