Isn’t it the fault of the teams that are so much better at ‘managing the cap’? We tried to compete with them in 2016, got caught, and now we know our place. Along with the other dozen teams who struggle to match the big clubs.
Why do you continue to make excuses for poor management Tigers for instance , got Richardson in when they were a basket case in cap and players avd in 2 years he got it fixed, signed a few , let go some etc and are now looking stronger than us. Canberra is not a destination club in many ways, but are streets ahead of Parra, plans annd execution matter.

I think your career in public service separates you from the real woujd of consequences for performance. It’s a long time since 2017, and the people now responsible have done so littke it’s embarrassing,

There’s a lot more people know than they post, let’s just suggest we don’t have the right people in place if this is where we are.

The performance of the lower grades would have to be saving MONs skin ATM.

He better hope some of these kids turn into genuine stars.

Knight of near drama
There was nearly an incident in the lead-up to the games in Las Vegas when the Dragons and the Knights players came face-to-face at a nightspot.

Newcastle recruit Trey Mooney was allegedly ready to take on the Dragons – or more specifically, team co-captain Clint Gutherson.

Sources with knowledge of the situation not authorised to comment publicly say Dragons security became involved to make sure Mooney didn’t get anywhere near their players. The Knights say their security was there as well and as a result, the matter didn’t escalate.

It’s unclear why he was allegedly ready to rumble. Fortunately, the situation was de-escalated quickly. The issue was brought to the attention of the NRL, which didn’t seem overly concerned as it hadn’t progressed to anything serious.

Was Trey Mooney at the club when Gutho was here

Trey Mooney behaves and plays like a mad merkin. A tinge of Carl Webb about him.
I wish we got him.

Former reserve grader now on huge coin Mooney was ready to punch on with Gutho in a Las Vegas nightclub days before round one and potentially throw away his career. Sure.

If it’s any consolation, ten years ago, while their golden generation were still coming through the pathways, Penrith were signing guys like Zak Hardaker, Chris Grevsmuhl and Suaia Matagi. They were looking forward to getting Jamie Soward off their books. Moylan was their captain ffs

PenrithDelboy would’ve been livid.

The thing is they developed

Yeo,Edwards,Too,Crighton,Cleary,

Id argue the current games best or atleast top 3 Fullback,Lock, winger, centre and halfback...

Add guys like Martin,Luai,Mclean,JFH,Kikau
Who would all be top 5 in their positions.

What are the chances of doing that again? I'd say 1 in 100,000.

If we produced 2-3 genuine origin players id be stoked.

Tigers have built a better squad then us. At this point id love to know our plan becuase we talk up all these talented halves we have. So then why did we try and get Pezet for 4 yrs and Galvin? Was the plan to move them all on? Did we not rate them?

Once we missed out on them both was about the sametime management started talking then up. What happened if we did land Galvin or Pezet?

I am going to go full Pou here we have only started again to spend enough or concentrate enough on our junior programs. Development has been garbage for over a decade.

We have had some decent players coming through in Matts and Ball then they just stopped developing.

Look at our 2000s sides our juniors were a majority of our squad and were quality.

I have high hopes we develop our players and alot better as we have some quality in their but I am not holding my breath...

Sure agree. I think we will develop some good kids also. But the chances of developing 10 origin level guys ? Im Sceptical. It's almost impossible so using Penrith is a poor example.

The point remains, we have started to develop some good players but we have failed as a club to recruit properly. Look around our competitors, sure Penrith have had a good crop come through, but ascending clubs spend to get elite level players, there is something to question where we are not attractive or can’t spend properly. Don’t tell me that it’s all TPAs etc, it’s obviously more than that or else it wouldn’t t be possible to see clubs spend and recruit.

Don’t tell me we have the ability to sell the clubs vision, do we spend the cap in the same way as other clubs, do we spread it around too evenly whilst others pay more for elite and build around them.

It’s been said, if you keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome you are kidding yourself, what ever we do in recruitment terms since the current staff took control Continues to be avoid success..That should mean we change the way we do business or change the staff, there’s an answer there somewhere.

True maybe we have our stars align.. Is the panfers success as a team what made some of the players Origin level though?

We do need to have some smart signings like the Panfers have done to compliment their juniors.

Time will tell. Like I said if the club really wanted Fletcher and Lorenzo and rated them long teem then why were they offering Pezet 4yrs whilst Moses has another 4yrs after this one. To me that's a worry. Had we got him do we then lose these kids for Pezet who at this stage looks average?
TDS looks average and im wondering if he was a panic buy after missing out on Galvin to save face.

Im unsure what the clubs plans are atm.

Agree we have gone in for Keon and he choose the Dragons over us...
We won't get Barnett and have recently been sold a 35 year old JDB..
