Well the RRLF have come out with the prospective teams and competitions for 2011.

Championship: Continental League
SC Crystal (Moscow, Russia)
RLK Legion XIII (Kharkiv, Ukraine)
RFCs 'Faith' (M.O - Wherever that is)
SC Thrashers (Moscow, Russia)
RFCs 'Neva Zastava' (St Petersburg, Russia)
RLK Spartak (Moscow, Russia)
SC Storm (Moscow, Russia)

Championship: South
Sphere (Volgodonsk, Russia)
Crystal (Rostov on Don, Russia)
Express (Rostov on Don, Russia)
DGTU - Academy (Rostov on Don, Russia)
DGPU (Makhachkala, Russia)
Crane (Saratov, Russia)
Builder (Rostov on Don, Russia)
Chair (Taganrog, Russia)

Championship: Center
RLK Vereya (Vereya, Russia)
SC Thrashers (Moscow, Russia)
RLK Nara (Naro-Fominsk area, Russia)
SK Spartak Losinka (Moscow, Russia)
RLK Storm (Moscow, Russia)
SK Nord (Moscow, Russia)
RBC (Moscow, Russia)
Dinamo (Moscow, Russia)

Championship: North-West
RLK Nevsky Gate (St Petersburg, Russia)
Public Initiative Rugby League (Kronstadt, Russia)
IC LSU (St Petersburg, Russia)
Sphynx (St Petersburg, Russia)
University (St Petersburg, Russia)
TSFKS & W (St Petersburg, Russia)

After a few years of going backwards, things are starting to look promising again for Russia. The spread of the competition is quite large now, though it is disappointing to see no teams from the Kazan region. Does anyone know if they are still playing?

Kazan entirely switched to RU at adults, but there may still be some junior teams I'm unsure.

On that is the continental league a higher division because it seems to cover teams from the North West and Central regions (and Ukraine because Kharkiv were too good for the other teams I guess?)?

Good to see it all under one umbrella again

Sounds encouraging. Lets hope they all make it onto the field in 2011. Looking forward to hearing some results.

This is going to sound stupid, but i want to get this correct. Russia are holding four domestic competitions with the teams above?

Yes, it's regional to save travel and costs.

I think from the initial regional tournaments they play a finals round robin.

The structure is, the Continental League is the top competition.

Below that then there are three regional based leagues, one around St Petersburg, one around Moscow, and one down near the Ukraine/Turkey borders.

Within each of these regional leagues, there is following competitions.

Southern League:
Urban Competitions:
Rostov on Don Open Age Males
Rostov on Don Open Age Womens
Rostov on Don U/22's
Rostov on Don U/16's

Regional Competition
Rostov Region Open Age Males
Rostov Region Open Age Womens
Rostov Region U/16's

Center League
Moscow Competitions:
Moscow Masters
Moscow Championships Open Age Males
Winter Championships Open Age Males
Moscow Nines Open Age Males (3 Events)
Moscow U/16's
Moscow U/14's
Moscow U/12's
Moscow U/10's

North West League
St Petersburg Competitions:
Championship League Open Age Males

There are then a handful of other competitions like the inter-city Cup between St Petersburg and Moscow.

Those teams I named before are the ones confirmed for the senior league.

So does the RLK Leigon X111 team from Kharkiv, Ukraine, in the Continental League have a domestic feeder competition to act as their reserve grade?
