Sharks are sh*tting themselves 'cause Bird's now gone & Maitua hasn't yet put pen to paper and has apparently been to Townsville to talk with the Cows.

How can he be allowed to train with the sharks when there is no contract registered with the NRL?

The Sharks obviously still don't have the dosh to pay him 'cause they've maxed out all their credit cards....Lol

Reni Maitua rumours has Sharks in panic

GREG Bird officially signed a one-year deal with Super League giants Bradford over the weekend - but it was his ready-made replacement Reni Maitua who had Sharks officials in a panic.
Just hours after the Bulls confirmed that Bird was headed to England this season - with an option to extend his stay there for an additional two years - red-hot rumours that Maitua was headed to Townsville to meet Cowboys officials emerged on radio.
The axed Bulldog only began training with Cronulla last Monday but is yet to sign off on his one-year deal.

However, Maitua was tracked down by The Daily Telegraph in Adelaide, where he had attended a wedding.
"Townsville? I'm not interested in playing for the Cowboys. I'm not interested in any other club whatsoever," Maitua said last night.

there has been for a while with my understanding. I play in the Cronulla Sutherland Junoir comp and the funding weve been getting for years is sloppy. Only confirmed when the local newspaper told us that they had to get a new deal with the bank to fins funds to pay staff and players for christmas.

Tough times out there, might have to revisit Peter "leave my jumper alone" Gow.

Indeed that may be the case.
If im doing as well as i did last year in this comp im going to have a stint in the South Sydney comp. You ask people around the area who they support and i bet a third or more dont support the sharks.

funny article i just found

Sharks president Peter Gow, one of the key men behind the revival of the Sharks in the 90s, was forced to resign following a media witchhunt over the infamous jumper-cutting episode in 1999.

After a crushing Cronulla win in the local derby at Shark Park, Gow bought a jumper from a Dragons supporter, and proceeded to take to it with a pair of scissors in the King Wan Chinese Restaurant at Cronulla Leagues Club.

This sparked an altercation with former Dragon, Barry Beath, leading ultimately to Gow's forced resignation.

A great act from a great man!

He was very lucky Barry Beath never killed him on the spot.I think the only thing that stopped Barry was that it was in a crowded restaurant.
