Ryan Cross at it again

It is hard to believe that so much vitriol is poured onto a player with such a long time clean record. He was convicted on the word of Glen Morrison who suffered not the slightest injury. Cross was guilty of having his hand on Morrison's face. In every game players get their face worked over in tackles without the victims complaining. Morrison chose the other path and will be remembered for it by his fellow players.

should the extent of a players injury determine the sentence?

For example, if a madman with a gun chases a person and fires 100 shots at him but misses, should he be let off?

Dont be surprised Ryan. Morrison is a lowlife dog. Only scum would do what he did ... if he was in prison and dobbed on a fellow prisoner, he'd be dead by now.

Morrison took the players law of what happens on the field, stays on the field and spat at it. He'll get his, i can assure you.

Dickhead, Morrison didnt need to dog on Cross, the channel 9 cameras did that for him, hardly Morrisons fault Cross' actions were blatant and out there for all to see.

I agree Morrison is a lowlife, but even lowlifes have morals, and I dont see Morrison eye-gouging anyone.
High shots? yeah......count em on both hands by GM every game, but high shots are one level, eye gougings right down the bottom...it IS a dog act and Cross is a DOG.

why does rleague consider eye gouging a 'heinous' crime??

what's the big deal.........he never hurt noone.

but apparently it's ok for pj marsh to charge barett with his elbow cocked and attempt to take his head orf and everyone is fine with that......pkuking unbelievable.

Because eye gouging can potentially blind someone for life, it's a low act that should never fit into a game of Rugby League. In a physical contact sport incidents such as Marsh on Barrett the other night will happen, it's pretty tough to find an excuse for how a finger goes into a players eye in a gouging motion.

I know from your posts how much you dislike Morrison so if you can defend him for speaking out about what happened then anyone can.

yeah well hitting someone in the head with your elbow could potentially kill them.......so which one is worse??

just because you get fingers in your eyes dont mean it's eye gouging......it could be accidental as you grab someone around the head.......in any case morrison wasn't injured.

incidents like marsh/barrett dont happen very often, i rarely see players tackling with their elbows........the last players to do this are newton and hoppa and look what happened to them.

What would you call it? Exploratory surgery.

in any case morrison wasn't injured.

So what? If he had been I assure you the suspension would have been far longer.

What has this got to do with gouging? Trying to justify Ryans actions with a totally different type fo incident? You're really failing to make any point.

And it's heavily punished as well if it's intentional because it is dangerous. Difference is that Marsh had no intent, he came in not looking or aiming up Barretts head but instead with his forearms raised to charge down the kick like we see week in week out, unfortunately in this case he got the player on the chin. Careless and somewhat dangerous? Yes. On the same scale as the Morrison incident? No.

Players get facials and fingers come into contact with the eyes and I wouldn't regard that as too serious but Cross in this case dug his finger into the eye of Morrison in a gouging motion with intent. Very dangerous and whether or not Morrison was injured as a result is irrelevant.

What a load of crap, watch the tape again and then go back and watch every other game of football ever played. We see players coming through like this to charge down virtually every single kick.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can show ANY evidence of Cross's finger in Morrison's eye. The video showed Cross with his fingers in a clawing position. He certainly was grabbing the head around the eyes and deserved censure for an illegal tackle. You cannot grab something with a flat palm and fingers.

You Cross haters WANT to believe he was guilty.

The panel made their decision on Morrison's statement.

Did any of you see the condition of the Union player's eye after he claimed to have been gouged by the Springbok on Saturday ?

Interesting......He said he was suprised that Morrison came out and said what he did about the incident but if the exact same thing happened to him there would be no doubt that Cross would have had a bitch about it.

Jimmy, have another look after you detox.

Cross's palm was flat? So is Nepal.

I ca't believe Cross' whinge - it was blatant to the observer, in fact it was video - and not reports from referees - that compelled the Judicial process to act.

It seems that all of a sudden parra are open season because we are playing very well. PJ has copped 2 knees and a thug attack so far. Now Morrison's a dog for protecting his vision.

Maybe other teams should concentrate on playing footy rather than influencing games by blatant thuggery. Works for us.

Who cares what Ryan Cross thinks? He's been convicted of being a gouger and will be known as a gouger for the rest of his career.

 Funniest post in a long while.
First you admit Cross's fingers were in a clawing position, then you say you cant grab something with flat palms and fingers.
Gee, I wonder how 'real' eye gougers do it...

I will say that the Roosters media machine is doing their jobs very well with this article and putting their own spin on it. Try and see this article from "joe public's" perspective and you will see Cross comes off very well
