Great buy. He is a fine player who will shine in super league. I'm sad he won't be in the NRL as I was looking forward to him cracking the Tigers line up. I guess Shane Elford coming back forced him out?

Just signed for 2006? Leaves him free for the GC...

Has\Had??? good potential never lived up to it with the sharks, his stint in rugby sent him backwards imo. Hope he goes well with you guys and a fresh start.

SUPER League club Castleford completed its overseas quota with the signing of goalkicking Australian centre Ryan McGoldrick from Cronulla.

The 24-year-old Queenslander spent the last six years in the NRL with the Sharks, apart from a one-year stint in rugby union with New South Wales in 2003 when he also played sevens for Australia.

McGoldrick is the 10th new signing for the newly-promoted Tigers and joins former Huddersfield captain Ben Roarty and former Cronulla team-mate Danny Nutley on the club's quota.

"I'm very pleased to add some experience to our back-line which is pretty young," said Castleford's new coach Terry Matterson.

"I believe he will be a good acquisition to the squad. He is quick and strong with the ball and gives us an accomplished goalkicker which is something I've been looking for."

Can't say I've ever seen Goldy kick a goal in my life. Dunno how accomplished he is.

LOL accomplished goal kicker ! Do the ESL administrators even research their players before sprouting this sh*t ???

I worry for Ryan in that regard, as english kickers are bloody strong and pot them from all over the park as a rule, Ryan probably kicked a wee bit as a young lad but can hardly be classed as an experienced converter.....

On the other side of the coin is the fact that I reckon the UK style of broken play will suit him down to the ground and he WILL get outside his man and WILL make inroads as a centre over there. I had the pleasure of seeing ritche barnett a few years ago live over there for HULL, he was past it over here but killed it will ball in hand in the UK. Not saying zuess is past it, but his ball in hand skills are similar in my eyes to ritchie and he will have the same success.

There's no way McGoldrick is anywhere near the class of Ritchie Barnett, who went over at around the age of 28 on big money, and still was playing great footy. To give the Cas fans a better idea, I'd say he'll probably go a bit worse than Paul Mellor did for you guys.

This just goes to show how uninterested the Wests Tigers really were about his signing.

Had a couple of good games for the Sharks and a couple of shockers. He'll be effective in Super League I guess. Never really made it in the NRL.

The tigers Steve Noyce today is reported as being "schocked" by the Castelford clubs announcement that Ryan has been signed by them, as NOyce says Ryan has been " on their payroll" for a while now and was a chance of playing centre in the world club challenge with Lolesi out injured......

The plot thickens....... Is there anything you can do to shed some light on this BT ?

Like, if a deal was done without the tigers knowledge. it's steve noyces fault ?

It could be something as simple as a case of the wrong player, its happened before, but I doubt it.
