Ryan - where does he fit ?

Looking at the team this week I wonder where Ryan is going to end up next year.

I think you have to keep the two wingers that we have now and I figure Tedesco or Moltzen will end up at fullback. To me that leaves Ryan in the centres or out of the squad. Its a tough call considering how good he has been this season but I cannot see another option.

Does anyone see him playing anywhere else if we are at full strength ?

I don't know that tuqiri and utai will both be kept for.next year.

I'd dump tuqiri, utai to bench and ryan on wing. Utais power will be awesome value as a bench utility.

I just couldn't drop Utai because he has been so freaken good.

He would also be good off the bench though.

The reality is that there's no point having Ryan in the side if he's not playing on the wing or at fullback. He's wasted in the centres, he'd be wasted on the bench and he's certainly not a forward.

Ideally I'd give Ryan the fullback spot and give Tedesco some time in the lower grades to work on his fitness and conditioning.

Ryan's form has dropped a little lately but overall he has had a good season. The current wingers deserve there place in the team.If anything we seem to be a quality centre short,we have Rowdy than we drop down to Blake, followed by Beau than scrap the bottom with Never Reddy.

Ryan should move into the centres and Ayshford drops out. Our wingers are the best in comp. Theres not much of a difference between wing and centre, Beau could easily become a solid centre with an off-season behind him. It's a good problem to have.

This is basically what I think should happen. Ayshford can move into the backrow or bench if he deserves it.

Beau is an out and out winger and a decent one at that. Considering he started off as a shaky type of player, earlier in the year he was playing quite well. I think he's done as well as he could at centre too but for me if i was a Tigers supporter i'd like to see a backline of

1. Tedescho
2. Koriobete
3. Ayshford
4. Lawrence
5. Ryan
6. Marshall
7. ???????? who have you guys got for halfback?

i don't think Moltzen is up to standard but knowing Sheens he will be either 7 or 1

Utai cannot drop out of the side. We gain so much with him in the side, and considering we have forwards who have trouble denting the line (ie. Blair), Utai acts as a second forward and he eats through so many metres. Also, he has been close to our best player this year so he definately deserves his selection.

I reckon Sheens would go with that side natheel put up. Moltzen or Miller halfback (can he be given a decent chance FFS sheens?) I agree Utai would be a great impact player off the bench running at tired forwards.

Utai on the bench makes more sense.

As a winger in the game today, he's simply not up to it. He has no leap, he's nervous under the high ball and he's slow positionally.

While his work taking hit ups for dirty metres is impeccable, It's the only asset he has over Ryan.

Ryan on the wing, Koroibete the other wing, Ayshford and Lawrence in the centres.

We'd have a decently quick backline with some ability there.

Utai coming off the bench midway through a game would be of magnificent value.

Ryan is not and will never be a centre. He looks woefully out of position there.

He looks much better on the wing and just as comfortable at fullback.

That's all he should ever play. If we're ever a centre short, we should put Fulton back there. He's laterally quicker than Ayshford and runs good strong straight lines just like any centre does.

When we signed Grant, I expected that him and Koroibete would be our wingers in 2013 with Tuqiri retiring and Ryan and Utai being there for depth.

Madunit, Utai hasn't dropped a bomb all year and he has been tested alot. His movement may be slow but he makes up for it clearly. I think Utai gets a bit of a rough time about not being able to catch because of his past and his small stature, but he has definately fixed it up and it's barely an issue anymore.

Utai isn't a great finisher, and still has read issues in defence.
Mad Unit was spot on with his post IMO, though I'd argue Sironen worthy of a run at right centre next year if Ayshford doesn't smarten up (assuming we'll have Benji and Anasta in the halves).

doesn't mean he's great under the high ball. he looks very uneasy and generally doesn't get in the right position until the very last second, shuffling around etc.

Utai has had a great year, don't get me wrong, but I believe Ryan is a better and more confident winger
