That's fine. If you're determined to not enjoy any game we play based on that, then that's your perogative. You may as well support another team until Furner gets fired.

I just find it a little ironic that people were blowing loads when we went on our rampage against teams far worse than the Warriors last season, but are happy to write off games like this because our coach has a particular surname. At least you know you're not alone.

Are you kidding me?

What gets me are people who are in here high-fiving each other when we're sitting in 14th place with the season just about half over.

We've gone backwards in a big way since last year and a performance like this last season was normal for us - now it's 'wow, how good were we today'.

I've got nothing against the Furner name - but I'll always argue that that's how he got the job, and as I've said in the past, I would've thought Mal proved great players don't necessarialy make great coaches, and Furner is no different.

Yeah let's get excited with our one win. Maybe if we're lucky we'll get two or three more before the season's over?

Yeah, last season we nailed teams like the Bulldogs, Penrith, Newcastle and Souths. The real powerhouses of the NRL in 2008. We had massive issues last year but nobody noticed because Colin Best was making 50 metre runs from our own half.

I agree most people on here are overly negative and coach bashing... One of the main reasons I haven't really been a forum regular for years now... At the end of the day it's the players who play the game not the coach... While I agree a coach makes a difference, it's not the be all or end all... A coach is worth 20% at best to what a team can do (minus picking the side but that’s not entirely his choice either, a lot of other people are involved on passing on how well players did in other levels and so forth)

In regards to their tries dead set... The second one was OK, ignoring the forward pass the tackle before it, but the first... Come off it... Last year we were disallowed 20 tries which were footy fields closer than that... The second camera angle showed the ball was nowhere year his arm when it touched the ground so how the hell can they give that??? The main reason it sh*ts me is that 6 points in F/A by the end of the season could mean the top 8 or not for us as we have left our selves little room for error during the rest of the season.

That Price try was disgraceful. It's decisions like that which can have a massive bearing on the outcome of a game.

As far as Furner goes, I think he has made some gutsy selections this year. Some I've disagreed with, but most have been really good for the long term future of the team. Today we showed what we are capable of and it showed that Furner is not out to make us a boring one dimensional team. The forwards played a lot straighter and got off more offloads and the backs stood deeper and used their angles a lot better. Campo ran the ball and the ball movement was outstanding both sides of the ruck. I don't think we even scored directly off a kick did we?

Our defence is still very paper thin. If we played against a team with a bit of dicipline in attack then the score could have been different. There seems to be no line speed and aggression when defending on our goal line.

Im glad Milne is back. Ive been wanting his inclusion for a few weeks because he adds spark and is great at backing up. All in all a solid performance but we still need to improve alot.

Chachi,

I think you'll find the reason your fellow Raiders supporters aren't jumping for joy about today is because:

1. You played well against a team who didn't turn up.
2. That team has not won at your ground for 12 years.
3. That team lost their previous game at their home "fortress" by 30 points against an average Cowboys outfit (who only managed to hold on against a reserve grade Dragons outfit the week before).
4. That team still looked like they could have scored 30 against you today, a number of poor mistakes in attacking positions let them down.
5. Josh Dugan sits in the TYC scoring 5 tries a game, gets a go in First Grade and does absolutely nothing wrong, and then gets sent back to the TYC where he proceeds to go about scoring 5 tries a game again.

If Canberra played their best lineup, and played to their potential, they would finish inside the top 8 comfortably. Unfortunately, you have a nuffie coaching your side and he doesn't know what your best lineup is. Canberra will likely finish 9-13 unless they play their best lineup.

I'm not confusing the Warriors for the Storm at their best, but I think we played a lot better than you're giving us credit for. I don't think the Warriors looked like getting 30 on us at all. We also bombed as many opportunities as they did and still beat them by 26. Their 2 trys should never have been awarded too.

We turned a 40 point flogging around by beating a very good team that was as desperate as us for a win. Most of their team has played Test footy so they're not like a pack of nobodies for gods sake. It's worth acknowledging IMO and I won't write it off. History means nothing too...the last 12 years didn't play for us today.

I'm not suggesting this is the start of a 10 game winning streak. I'm suggesting there were some great signs out there such as the form of Learoyd-Lahrs, Thurling and Tilse. Next week is another game and I'll judge our performance fairly on that too.

I do agree with you that Dugan should be in the team though (for purtell).

Other than Dugan, who is in our best lineup in your opinion? Tell me what else Furner got wrong. I assume you will have watched our under 20's and Souths Logan team to justify your selections.

The difference on the weekend is simple really . we had a halfback playing halfback , not a champion lock pretending to be a halfback. tongue should never be allowed to be at 1st receiver.

We were unlucky not to put more pionts on the Warriors , Croker made some wrong options which will come with experience that cost us points.

Campo ran the ball yesterday something he hasnt done for some weeks now.

We can only beat the team we play , because the Warriors were sh*t we shouldnt take the points? Lets give credit when its due , Parra were crap against us but they won.

You want me coming here singing how awesome we are?

I'm ecstatic we beat a pretty sh*thouse team who don't travel well at a ground where they haven't won since 1997.

Happy?

Oh wait we're coming off 4 losses including a 40 point hiding, and Furner still can't coach his way out of a paper bag.

Yeah I was happy with todays game. I'm still unhappy that Furner was appointed coach in the first place and the fact is we've won ONE game in five weeks!!! That's hardly cause for celebration!!!

Now that's my type of post ... Sums up my feelings.
