Sack Griffin

Well as I predicted sometime ago I honestly believe that the playing group and club have been divided for some years. Moving Lomax from his natural playing position to the opposite side of the playing field was always fought with danger and as an ex coach albeit not at NRL level it is extremely difficult for that player to perform at the required standard. The coach knew this and today it is being reported that Lomax has been dropped by Griffin. It will be interesting to see if any other players in the get rid of Griffin camp are affected. The rumours of the two separate camps both at boardroom and playing group may have some substance
It's been screamingly obvious for years, at least since Hunt's recruitment: on the field and via the Head Coach - it's a bunch of old Qld mates v's a handful of players who are rusted-on Dragons. I strongly suspect Hunt has had huge and undue influence on all of this. At board level, I suspect WIN's only interest was to manage the tangled web of finances it had with Illawarra but, since they had to also put some money on the table, they've probably been deadshits about it ever since.

This has nothing to do with a split team, it has everything to do with Lomax being the worst player in the comp for the last 18 months and deservedly dropped. Thought he'd have a really good year this year, but he's gone further back. Those that blame him being moved to the left for his form have very short memories. He was extremely poor last year too and frankly this decision is about 12 months late.

I agree

Think emotions have got the better of you, can't blame you though. The club has everyone cooked. Ben's a great halfback, sullivan will be better for the experience of playing with him rather than just watching him.
For the life of me I cannot understand how anyone can think Hunt is a "great" halfback.

He is a complete dud that occasionally finds a way to make things good primarily for himself and yet people crawl up his arse and instead of calling him out.

1. Poor game management.
2. Poor kicking game but for the occasional 40/20 which we rarely benefit from
3. Poor service to outside backs.
4. Unable to get bodies in motion or deep enough in attacking raids.
5. Poor decision making close to the opposition goal line.
6. Totally incapable of closing out a close game with a clutch play by himself and also incapable of setting up field position for anybody else to make the clutch play.
7. Has had many halves partners over his career and has been unable to combine with any of them for a sustained period.
8. Arm grabber at very critical times in defense
9. Can make our team very flat footed with his flat style of play and has sold many a dump to many a player.

If the above is what makes a great halfback then why haven't Cleary, DCE, Reynolds and a host of others displayed these "qualities" on a consistent basis like Hunt?

Hunt is a good footy player. I think he is an excellent 9.

But halfback is a specialist role with important responsibilities for the team. I challenge you to name one aspect of halfback play where he consistently delivers.

He was challenging for the Dally M playing at halfback. That's a good enough reason to justify his halfback credentials.

Occasionally making things good by playing in grandfinal, being one of the fav for dally m & consistently renowned by better analysts as one of the top players in the game. Give me a break with your wrong analysis. If that's how you view him, it's wrong.

People are very underappreciative of what Hunt has provided for this team despite others not performing on a consistent basis...

Mate I respect your opinion , but the guys had one good year as an individual player not as a 7 ...... That's just my take on it .....

You compare Hunt's game management to Adam Reynolds and it is chalk and cheese. Hunt looks clueless when it comes to plays close to the line where as Adam Reynolds just knows exactly what sort of play to make to have a chance of scoring. You wont see Adam giving the ball to a forward for a hit up against 12 men in the dying seconds.

Spot on. Reynolds plays for us in 2018 semi final we win and go on to GF qualifier. Hunt is not in the same league as players like that. We lose so many games due to poor game management.

Did he win the GF for them?

He actually lost the GF for them in normal time due to his inability to close out a match and that was long before his dropped ball in extra time.

Others get criticised for their poor form or lack of skill or effort etc etc so Hunt is not on his own here.

So seeing your a Hunt for 7 fan how would you rate the top 8 halves in order?

After a good end of last year, was hoping for the team be around the eight this year.
Coaching an NRL team is a tough gig however, if you can't make changes to improve the team what's the use.

Time for a caretaker. Listen to the players, calm the farm and at least get them all going in the same direction to enjoy playing for the club and the fans.

Good enough reason? You mean the totally unflawed voting system of the Dally M’s?

If you want to make an appeal to authority, I can do one better. @Old Timer and I never agree on anything. Ever.

In the extraordinarily rare event that it does occur. We are both, of course, correct.

By the way, you didn’t answer my question. Feel free to do so.

Hook them both I say
Exactly. Hunt's not going to be our future half or our future hooker. Hook's not going to be our future coach. Who gives a rat's arse about their personal dramas? Let's change the club name to Hunty McHookface. This is all getting far too childish.
