Hook will be with us until the end of 2023. Come this time next year we may decide to go off in a different direction if things aren't working out. But he won't be sacked.

However...the time for playing the toilers & plodders is over. For example:

As much as Reuben had a crack last night, select either Sloan or Max Feagai on that wing spot to further promote development. Understand that neither travelled as part of the extended squad. Happy for Matt F to keep his spot when fit. Sloan on the wing option is tempting because he probably has a few yards of pace on all our other options at the moment.

Sullivan is a must selection in the 17. I understand he's still going through his development, and thus his position probably will be bench utility this year, but jesus we can't have Mybe & McCullough in the same side in favour of Sullivan being 18th man !!

But to the previous point... with Su'a back does that mean we put Bird back to 6 and Amone as the utility again ? Or do we have another use case for Bird (lock with JDB into the props rotation)? I know Bird might get a week or two spell first though.

We need someone to put a rocket up Josh Kerrs' backside because this guy could be one of the premier forwards in the game. He's not even going to get a run in NSW Cup this week because he travelled as part of the extended squad to Townsville. How the f*** is this helping his and the overall squads future development ??

Please stop selecting Woods. While Moose has been putting in unfortunately he's not our future (Sims is also in the same boat despite his blue credentials). How do we get the likes of M Molo, J Hunt, B Burns, J Coric, C Muheisen, etc not only regularly in the top squad but also playing the minutes required to develop? We are wasting so much time with these plodders !

As others have said, there really has been no net improvement since Mary. But we also don't do anything about it and continue to pick the plodders. The only difference is, Hook and the current coaching staff have at least turned our salary cap position around the right way, so at least the current crop of plodders arent being over paid.

Here is the list of clean out end of 2022
Mcguire (too slow)
Kerr (useless release him)
Lawrie (release and pay him out useless)
McCulloch (too slow)
Woods (Gone too slow and inneffective)
Burgess (Released no effort should be busting his balls)
Fuimaono (Useless)
Sims (too old)
Burns (Hasnt worked and wont ever work release)

Denotes
Bird (not a back rower strictly a 14)
Mbye (not a hooker fighting for 14 spot w Bird)

We actually need to buy and promote 8 new forwards incl a hooker this is the problem we have our forwards are playing on reputation but way too slow and inneffective ....

Its back to the drwaing board and Hook goes with them...pay out the $400k and release him back to the ABC to commentate - he's too old school and obviously has run out of ideas by round 14...f**k him off now...

Browny and Madge sacked same day!
Can we sack Hook and make it the trifecta?
If only….
$400K pays him out for 2023...surely we can put together a go fund me page in this forum incl JA and raise the cash and give it to the board...i wonder if they would consider it...would make a great media piece in all papers...a go fund me page by the supporters to sack Hook...

I’d rather have Dean Young as Head Coach in 2023 with Brownie as his Assistant, than another year of this boring old coach!
At least Deano & Brownie have some enthusiasm and Dragons Heart to build on.
Brownie is excellent at bringing young Players through (like B.Smith) - we need him - get him into the joint. We are being conditioned for Dean Young's advancement to Coach ; may as well bring back Hornby as his Assistant.

Whilst I'm willing to admit the Hook experiment has failed the problem is and always has been the board until we remove the dinosaurs in power the results will be the same year after year.
Remove the dinosaurs and self-entitled people off the Board. Better still give the Red V members one spot on the Board and voting rights for all but 4 members (the chairman and vice-chairman along with two others to be appointed by St George Leagues Club and WIN Corp.

From there, recruit 4 marquee players:
8 Prop - Haas
11 Edge Forward - Fifita
6 Five-eighth -?
3 Left-Center -?
9 Hooker - Hunt

Then backfill with our best first-graders:
1 Fullback - Ramsey / Sloan (hire Slater to school them)
2 Left Winger - Mattt Feegai / Stewart
4 Right Center - Lomax / Max Feagai
5 Right Winger - Ravalwas
7 Halfback - Sullivan (Schooled by Cronk)
13 Lock De Belin / Amone

Let go of players, other than those named above, whose contract is up at the end of this season.

No Young or Hornby as head coach. let them prove themselves as a head coach at another club first and then judge them on their success as a head coach.

Both Flannagan and Madge are experienced head coaches who have won NRL premierships. Enough is enough, no more jobs for the boys and the self entitled.

I totally agree and what’s the point of keeping the current old boring fart coach and his side kick Peter Gentle as defence coach.
Gentle by name and gentle in our defence.
I’d clear out Flanagan as well, based on his re-signing of Bird on $550k per season.
Give the recruitment, pathways & development to Nathan Brown and piss Millward off as well as Flanno!
This club of ours needs a total clear out in the coaching system and talent identification.

So did mary. No more jobs for old boys, especially as unproven successful coaches

Yeah but Mary did no apprenticeship away from the sheltered workshop!
His claim to fame was working briefly under Pricey then knifing him.
At least Dean Young moved away to learn outside & Brown has over 20 years experience in head coaching roles in Australia and UK!
The Peanut coached some local Illawarra league team between painting jobs.

As I've already stated, we have different opinions. You don't like Hook and want short term success. I'm willing to give him more time because I can see changes happening that I believe bode well for the long term future. Whether Hook is there to see it all out - who knows. But I'm seeing forward movement which hasn't been there for years.

Hahahahahaha how are those positive changes turning out for you? We fielded the oldest, dumbest team in NRL history last night. All at the behest of one Anthony Griffin.

I mean that just says it all about the trajectory of this club. It was perfect game for Sullivan in the 13 and Sloan to the wing.

Coach couldn't find room for young Sullivan but brought old AM on when the game was already gone. How's your forward movement going? The experienced players were among the worst offenders in a winnable game in which we completely had a string of brain explosions so what does the experience equate to.

Base your judgements in some fact rather than getting on your high horse and telling others to give him time. The Cowboys have given Payten the exact same time. Look at what is possible from a equally weak starting point.

You clearly are blinded by an unintelligible belief in the process of a dud coach. Just because he is not Mary doesn't make him decent. You get your kicks at refuting the obvious and calling me out as an impatient and critical supporter. Give it a couple months you will start changing your tune and this time next year you will be ruing another lost season.

Totally agree ...... Be patient that has run its course a long time ago ....... We have no attack or defense , a coach that has no vision of attack or set plays ...... He played all his experience players last night and how did that go ? I for one would rather see the young blokes all play and lose , and gain first grade experience than losing with a bunch of slow old players that would not get a start elsewhere ...... Be patient what a joke .......

Is this the same Nathan Brown that couldn't win the unloseable Jersey Flegg grand final. The same Nathan Brown who preferred Ben Rogers at five-eighth to Jamie Soward in 2008. And didn't that end well. The same Nathan Brown who made us a laughingstock by slapping the face of a senior player. The same Nathan Brown who referred to Amos Roberts in 2000 as "the new dark chap".

FMS!

I think we can do without that sort of "genius"

PS - my question mark key is broken.

Here, here Mickey. Grab all of the guys you have mentioned by their collars and hurl them out. What a waste of space and money (although luckily not too much). Hook definitely has to go. I don't care what anybody says, he just isn't the fit for Dragons not by a long shot. Him and the assistants are not worth two bob or twenty cents.

Yes agree, this bunch of players need an injection of speed & intensity. They are way of the mark. For starters
the coaching staff needs tobe seriously overhauled.
Whatever it is they are trying to do is not working. Their attack is woeful, and defence is disgraceful. How many
times must we watch Bird scamper across field not making 1 meter forward. Or trying to arm grab in tackles
Instead of using his shoulder. Woods not able to make any ground in attack.Lomax dropping balls or throwing no look passes. Amone must go
had enough time now to show something, but missed tackles & dropped balls. Needs more time in Reserve grade. We all know McCullough is well past it. Hooks plan to bring the juniors through with a mix of experienced (cheap) players, has not worked, to put it mildly. I Hooks plan has not only failed but placed our
Juniors in a very unstable position. Hook & Gentle need
tobe shown the door.Time for a top grade coach with something more than easy to read block plays, and defensive strategies, that actually work. Time to go Hook you may have sold your ideas to our nitwhit, cheaparsed committee, but alas you get what u pay for.
And we got a bunch of old forwards that won't have a go.

Yes that’s the same Brownie that both Graeme Langlands & Chook Raper told me in 2008 that he was absolutely crucified by our club’s management.

I was so fortunate to meet these Dragons Immortals away from any Rugby League event and they both had nothing but praise for Nathan as a coach and a wonderful man.

Words along the line of he is so respectful to us and always asks our views & opinions on football matters, whilst the management were only interested in using them for a corporate $$$
Both claimed he was thrown in too young and spat out…

Also I would never repeat what Chang said about our clubs management, out of respect to my all time footy idol.

I can make an educated guess about what Chang said about club management, and he'd be absolutely correct.

To be sure, Brown was thrown into the top job so soon and, given that we were still wearing the "Chokers" tag in those days the pressure from all sides would have been great. Comparing Brown with Hook is like comparing apples and oranges but Brown certainly had a far better player roster. There's nothing in our backline like a Cooper, Gasnier, Morris, Hornby or Nightingale now. And nothing like a Bailey in the forwards.

With the exception of Bennett, the last really good coach we had was David Waite who over-performed given the roster that he had. And didn't our board, in it's infinite wisdom, decide that Andrew Farrar - the progenitor of the lumpen, stodgy lifeform that is Dragons Footy - was the future.
