They weren't playing like that in the first 7 rounds.
Not sure what changed, maybe scoring all those tries was making McUseless nervous, interesting when we went back to those predictable second man plays and stopped scoring he got resigned.....so maybe it made the board nervous too.

I reckon widdop's form and his kicking game being on point was a big part of your success as well. Injuries can destroy a guys confidence especially in regards to kicking. Same thing happened to us in 15 when graham cannonballed Reynolds.

This forum is very depressing right now. Its way more fun when there are people posting positive vs negative and healthy debate. Now its just doom and gloom from everyone.
Geez I hope we win next week to bring this place back to life.....

Yes it's doom and gloom but this isn't just because we are losing. It is because we've always been a club that expects the best of its players and coaches and in the last half a decade, for whatever reason, this standard has dropped. This is something I've not been used to since I started supporting St George a quarter of a century ago. The club is not interested in moving forward, but people within the club are only interested in their own personal interests - board, CEO, coaching staff and players all included. There is no rebuilding and there has been no success of any real substance. We are currently treading water, and have gone in circles post-Bennett. There is hardly a reason to believe that the next two or three years will be any different so don't expect rainbows and butterflies, as most of us aren't wearing blinkers.

On a interesting note..Just spoke with a family friend who used to play 1st grade. He's a Souths supporter and I was asking him what he thought was wrong at his club with the roster they had etc...anyway the topic turned to my beloved Dragons and he said that he would rather Maguire than that Clown who is coaching our side...bought up all the silly block plays from the last few games etc...and said who in their right mind would run the same plays that didn't work a year earlier ??? Stated that our club was a mess from top to bottom.

Have to say that I couldn't really bring up too many positives...Has it really come to this that other clubs just Mock our club because of the Board and their inability to hire a Coach.

Frank Facer and Laurie Doust. They would be distraught as to what has happened to their beloved club (even though Laurie would have a conflict of interest)

Not expecting rainbows and butterflies as you say. Just saying is that its more enjoyable on here when there is a mix of positive and negative posts. Right now its a negative pricks paradise.
For the record, I do think next year we will be much much stronger with a proper halfback. This year we have dropped about 3 games from lacking a halfback. Thats huge.
Next year we will be better.

Well we are currently are down a prop and have lost Josh Dugan for 2018, who saves about as many tries as Hunt will likely generate, in my opinion. We also lack a coach who can get consistency from his team over the course of an entire season or who can re-strategise and put in place contingencies as opposition get up to speed with what he is doing.

This thread was started after an appalling and dismal loss to Manly last year, and one year later we are sitting out on a bye after an atrocious performance against a team languishing down the bottom of the table.

But in positive news, Cutters have signed Jose Pereira or whatever his name is.

Hunts inclusion will far outway dugans loss.

I don't how good a player Jose Pereira is I'm feeling sorry for him.He thinks if he is good enough he might get a chance in first grade no chance with MacGregor as coach

Hunt may take some time to find his rhythm with the Dragons , but I believe that the finding a capable replacement for Dugan's fullback position will raise its own problems , regardless of Hunts ability . But I do believe that he , Hunt , shall eventually form a great combination with Widdop .

But I believe our biggest concern is that the players are in dire need of an individual whom can instill some ' fire in their bellies ' , that hunger to contest each and every match that the Dragons play . Surely there must be someone at the club who can assist McGregor in that capacity ?

He is 24. If he hadn't had regular first grade games why did we buy him.
His Utube highlights were nothing special, didn't see any clips to check his speed.
Looks like another great purchase by MillWit

We will be lucky to win another game this season. How things can change dramatically in a short space of time.
The Board would feel so silly at jumping the gun on Mary.
The board wouldn't feel a thing. If they did, then he would have been sacked last year when there were options to replace him (Toovey, Cleary). The fact they shot their bullet early wouldn't even register as a problem because Doust has them hoodwinked
