Get Mary to report to David Waite or Brian Smith as General Manager and then sack all the coaches for NRL at season end. At least Waite and Smith made Grand Finals unlike Mc Wrecker!

Mary has said he wants a good finish to the season and the effort was there last 2 weeks despite losses.

I think everything might be more palatable if he just didn’t say anything and hid under a table until his contract expires near 2022.

I almost feel sorry for him at moments like this. He just isn't very good, and is not being allowed to fail/leave/reflect. He's been in charge of the organisation for six years. He has failed consistently, no matter what supports he has been given, or what responsibilities have been removed. Now he has to trot out these pathetic excuses every week. On some level the constant ineptitude and failure must be crushing.

If the board had done its job anytime during his tenure and let him go - maybe after a couple of years failure - he would have had the opportunity to walk away and maybe reinvent himself as an assistant or go to England. It's happened to plenty who were/are much better coaches than Mary.

All further dithering by the board is just doing more damage to Mary, the club and supporters. Getting rid of him is the kindest thing they could do now.

Yes there’s been a few posts raising concerns about his mental health.

When he said he “finally have the team I want” earlier in the year and they go on to play so poorly that they are vying for the spoon, it cannot but have a debilitating effect on his confidence and self belief.

I might add that it would seem to negatively effect the players as well.

He looks very despondent at the press conferences, he knows that every reason he provides will present as yet another lame and unacceptable excuse.

He needs out for his own peace of mind. No amount of money is worth this on going humiliation and self immolation.

He has enough cash and all that, he will be ok financially. A lot of footy fans will go hungry tonight.

Serious question: is the club under a salary cap for coach and support staff salaries?

Perfect outcome is that billionaire WIN Sr. fronts up some cash to make an offer a great coach can't refuse and allow McGregor to finish his two year contract managing the tuck shop, clean out the sheds, etc.

The best scenario would be for dragons to hire a first grade coach or someone that has coached at that level rather than the good blokes in the mines.

Tell our present I don’t know what you would call him but Mcidiot that we are not sacking him but removing him as coach and he can clean the sheds for the next 2 years.

Just like manly did with Barrett but he had the upper hand with his 12 month clause if he wanted to take up the option. Now if Paul has any integrity he would then iron out a deal and walk away for the sanity of all involved.

The problem is he sees himself as a career coach rather than a career killer coach.

Mary is undoubtedly working back late tonight. It won’t help. You can’t work through slumps like this. You need meaningful high level change.

The problem with beating the titans at the moment, is that it represents a fairly hollow victory. They are the orphans of the game at the moment. Nothing to cheer about beating them.

Paul’s obsession with continuing on in the role in the hope that he can turn things around is a product of delusional and disordered thinking. It’s not established by any facts.

As the weeks go by, the players too seem to be deeply troubled by the enormous pressure they are under. You can tell that they are not enjoying their footy anymore and it’s become an arduous chore. Some of them may be damaged for a long time to come.

You are on your knees and ready to slump into the floor.

Even freaks like us tigers are in the hunt for the finals. We’ve got nothing really.

I feel for you.

This post pretty much sums things up......opposition supporters feeling sorry for us......can we go any lower!
All we need is a Sharks fan to start feeling sorry for us and we will all know what rock bottom feels like.

I had a sharks fan mate drop by my office today and felt sorry for me as a saints supporter. He said how does the club keep your coach for so long and all I hear from him in the media is excuses for losing. All I said was the the club is run by old boy dinosaurs and don’t run it like a professional business.

He lives in Oatley and I moved to the Shire from Blakehurst 20+ years ago

These suburbs are like foreign countries for us who live out west.

I met someone the other day who reckons we have beaches in Sydney!

There are no words left to describe our management, our coach and our very feeble players.

At what point is enough enough for a mere fan? Are we supposed to honestly ride this storm out for aeons? My inclinations have been pretty spot on of late, and it is abundantly clear to me next year holds even less hope. And even if that is wrong, a premiership is so far out of the question in the foreseeable future.

I realise there's no alternative to supporting St George, as in another club, but I can only see this path leading to becoming a disillusioned league hater and losing this thing that has brought so much joy and pain over the years. While that's hard to imagine now, it is truer by the day. The players, coach and management are stuck in some sick symbiotic relationship in which they say one thing and then perform like they've never met, whilst practising their best surprised face.

I suppose I will have to find some other outlet, somewhere else to put my energy. I don't know how others intend to manage this affliction??? I ride the lows which means the highs are sweeter but this is a different beast. We currently risk changing the identity of this club forever, people.

That’s an amazing post. I recommend everyone read it thrice to get everything out it. Thanks.

The signatures your team should be chasing this off season

With some clubs already having booked their trip to Bali, it’s time to take a look at who your club should be chasing this off-season.

The last couple of years have seen a number of players break contract to leave for other clubs, so don’t be surprised to see players like that arise. Retention is also on the cards for some clubs who have depth in all positions.

St George Illawarra Dragons – Tim Sheens

Paul McGregor must go – his ship has sailed.

There are reports floating around that Sheens could be leaving Hull Kingston Rovers at the end of this season and he is the man to turn around the Dragons after successful stints with the Tigers and the Kangaroos.

And Barrett is sniffing around for another coach, maybe he hatched on the idea that the club will want another ex player who knows the culture bla bla bla.

When I was young my old man who had red eye and right eye told me he expected me to do the following in my life
1 Get a job in the Government. Did that 32 years in
2 Join a Union, did that and served my union from delegate to Committee of Management
3 You support the dragons come hell and high water.
These three rules determined where I worked and what team I had to support.
I am getting to old to wait to long for a premiership.
Sack McIdiot and give me hope

It’s getting harder and harder as I’m sure most supporters of this great club of ours can detest to. To watch the dragons play. There is absolutely nothing to be excited about, our style of play is boring, our execution of basic fundamentals is gone. We have been a serious rubble since Bennett left, 3 finals appearances if I’m correct since 2011. I stand corrected if I’m wrong. There must be someone on the board that can see this?? I had the throught when price was sacked, it possibly can’t get any worse then this, I had hopes for McGregor that things would improve? There have been glimpses of that, but that has now well and truly gone. The man quite simply isn’t a first grade coach, yet the powers that be at the dragons and certain sections of the media, keep saying that he is? The man must go. Pay him out, show him the door, and get someone with first grade experience, Henry, , griffin, I’ll even throw Tim sheens into the mix. Anyone of those above mentioned names, would in my humble opinion do a much better job with the squad we have.

yes sadly weve gone from a club who DID sack a dud coach to one that doesnt even care at all....about winning, about competing, about results, about our reputation, about US as fans!! or about or team, our club, our fun, our passion , our loyalty etc etc...aswell as the poor players busting their a(**^ who are CLEARLY roads better than idiots like Aitken, Lafai, Latts, etc etc....the board constantly just sh(*^^ in our faces just having this coach still run the place No company anywhere who had ANY pride at all in their brand, lable, team , organisation etc would still have the loser! mob even here at all...the least they can do as soon as the seasons done the very next day, is sack the coach and get one that CAN coach not another failure like Barrett a real coach! anyone now to rebuild I dont care...even the first 6 weeks of next season theres a RISK that well win a few and he WONT be sacked, thats why they must sack him at the immediate seasons end....

for we have become a sad loser, third tier team, my only enjoyment now, as a fan, and for pretty much the last 2.3rds of the whole season actually, for the first time in my 45 years as a MAD Dragon, when I watch Saints games now, I full well understand that we will NOT win, I didnt think wed beat anyone... like im sure a lot of those third tier teams fans the way theyll watch a game, the best I can do now excitement wise is to just watch the 2 or 3 upcoming stars for us and enjoy their individual performances...and wish we had better players across the park to support those 2 or 3 who do put in for us....its sad...Im hating players, Aiken, Latts, Laughai are my worst...never hated a Dragon never.... weve ALWAYS had a pretty well rounded team...always been competitive...cept under Price and the Bald Baboon...so I w just be happy that at least we have 2 or 3 players who are actually first grade standard.... like old west tigers fans must have felt, when all they had was Brasher, or Warriors fans when all they had was Jones...or all Knights have is Ponga etc etc....my sadness is that us MIGHTY MIGHTY DRAGONS , are now just an old dead horse waiting to be put out of its misery if we dont get rid of this Cancerous buffoon right NOW.... the longer hes here the more wrecking hes doing and damage and longer it will take to even get back up t a 2nd tier team....but sadly were a tigers a Titan, an Eel, A Warrior A South Queensland Crusher, ....not a GREAT MIGHTY TEAM BUILT BY REAL MEN and total SUPERSTARS who ALWAYS CARED!! WHO MADE REAL DECISIONS AND CARED ABOUT RESULTS AND OUR REPUTATION AS A TEAM!

we are one of THOSE teams now.....who you know will plod, wholl always play safe, be left behind, will always lose and never be any good...and it kills

one of the worst things about this is we went from Facer, to Bath, to Raper, Gasnier, Provan, Langlands etc to Mcgregor, Aitken, Lafai, Plodders......end the madness wheres Howard, Richardson? any of the famous Dragons men where in heck are they? can anyone step up and help?

it seems like the only ones who care are the fans and the players...
