I'm ready for my humble pie. I was against Gutho coming to saints becuase I thought he was over it. Was I wrong. Beat the rest of the team on the run up the mountain. And the commitment he has shown, moving his family to the Gong; and the way he has spoken Wow.

Can not wait to cheer him on next year and see the leadership and confidence he brings to the team.

Also, I like Sloan's take on Gutho's coming to the Dragons. Other we have had have thrown out their toys.

2025 will be a much better year.

We now need a half - and I trust Flanno will get the best he can.

Gee I hope this stops the mis-informed notion that he is slow. No one is quick with a torn quad, let alone damaged ribs. The try he scored against us at Commbank, if you watch closely, he hobbles over the line, grounds the ball and grabs at his rib cage. It is hard to breath when you have rib damage, let alone play a game of NRL. WARRIOR.

Like all these names for him.

I thought I’d start a thread for the man who has done more for the club in 7 days than Hunt did in 7 years
A very good idea Big Rig for starting this thread.

With the signing of Saint Gutho comes greater optimism and belief and he will bring solidarity at the Dragons which is what the club has lacked for a considerable time. We know that he can be a leader that we need and will help get the best out of the squad that we eventually will have for the next few years.

I feel positive that he and Flanno will get along like a house on fire to then keep the fire in the Dragon burning strong for us.

We have changes coming for 2025 with a new main sponsor in Squadron Energy and the recent addition of Dynamoney plus the others we have already secured. We also will be getting closer to the C of E becoming a reality. There is a new coach for the womens' team and of course the signings of Saint Gutho, Val Holmes and Damien Cook, plus a new prop forward and halfback to come. So lots to look forward to for a brighter and successful new year.

Next year could be a horror show.. look at how rosters like parra, souths, broncos, warriors, titans struggled this year.. they are all better rosters than ours.... the competition is going to be elite in 2025... but I feel a lot better with a couple of leaders and someone safe at the back.. I just cant relax if we are leaking points.. undoes all the hard work.. and we just cant win tight contests if we cant trust our defence.

But Gutho could get injured and we go back to Sloan, but atleast we have some options, and that goes for a number of positions.. would be even better though if we start to see a little of Guthos values rub off onto Sloan.. I personally want him as NSW Cup fullback if he buys in to improving himself.. but Benny Rumble is going to try and take that mantle this year.. he is in all the social media clips.. hes learning off Gutho also.. but hes years behind Sloan in development.

I want Gutho to show Sloane what to do when defending on or near the line. What a difference that would make.

You know you have a good player when the fans from the club he came from cannot speak highly enough of him. Not only do they speak about his on field but his off field and what he brings to the whole team. I am hoping he has an injury free season because that is the only thing stopping him from being potentially the best buy of the season, just like any player.

As a Parramatta, I will say that the only problem with Gutho is that the team can come to rely on him too much. I think this is the the reason that Ryles let him go. Whenever Gutho was off the field (which rarely happens) you would see the team immediately go to sleep. Like kids who have decided to slack off because Dad isn't there yelling in their ear. It was to the point that if Gutho went off, or wasn't playing, you could see the loss coming. Even if we were winning. Gutho goes off for a HIA, we immediately concede a lead in a game we were dominating before he went off. I think if the fans like me could see this, Ryles recognised it too. And it's not something you can easily fix. It's a case of, even though he is probably the biggest effort team player on the field, you need to let him go to reset the team mentality back to the individuals taking responsibility for themselves. Another example of this is Jake Trbojevic for Manly. When Jake is not playing, Manly are a completely different side. Because they don't have their chief motivator pushing them when they get their heads down. If Dragons can not become too reliant on Gutho for their motivation and positivity, he will be massive for them. He is all effort. No BS. And his positivity and competitive nature is unmatched

One other thing worth mentioning, is that leading up to origin in the 2023 season, when everyone was calling for Dylan Edwards to be the NSW full back, Gutho was the number 1 full back on paper at the time. His stats were better for everything, other than tackle breaks and run metres (which were Dylan Edwards, but only just). He had better stats for everything else. Better than all other fullbacks. But he has not even considered for origin. Because he is not overly flashy, and all his work is team based, it is often easily overlooked and underrated

He is the perfect example of the saying "Hard work beats talent"

Good comment. Thanks. Fortunately, we will also have Cook on the field, and he is also a notorious big mouth and leader.

Wow imagine having a leader the team misses when off the field?
What a problem.

Try having a leader that inspires a team only when he's not playing!

i think you guys will miss Gutho's on-field, and off field, influence whilst we will marvel at having some leadership (FULL STOP)
