Latest Dragons rumours:

John Cross: unlikely
Mark Mundine: unlikely
Leo Clarke: reportedly signing with Wests Tigers
Robbie Simpson: firming
Blaine Stanley: likely... another possible halfback.
Henry Perenara: backrower posibilities here... not for the first time but negotiations are back on.

In 2002 I started up this thread because I thought we needed to verify what the problem was with the Saints side, now we are almost half way through the 2003 season, how do you guys feel now? Do you think we have verified the problems?

Its good to see old threads pop up from to time just to see how close or far off the mark we all were. ;)

I'll read back through the whole thread later but in summary and imo:
<ul> [*]I think the jury is still out on Firman [*]I think we've seen enough of Dean Byrne now to know that he is a class act. [*]Nathan Brown is a good coach. Not great... maybe that'll come later. Its good to see him there with Barnhill, Young and Daley. [*]The Lock position is still up for grabs but its not an issue with Timmins there. [*]Amos is a better winger than a fullback. Hornby is solid. Shame about Simmonds who I think is is better than a reserve grader. [*]No problems up front. Riddell, Bailey and Ryles are all putting in and its noticeable when they're off the field. [*]Thommo is holding up his end of the bargain this year. Workload is great. [*]Kite needs to improve. He's better than what we've seen in 2003. [*]We need to win the close matches.[/list]

Well, the Seasons over boys.

What do we think the "new" problems are.

I think the main one was injuries, but you can't really stop that.

Anything else?

DISCIPLINE.I THINK FIRMIN IS A GOOD YOUNG PLAYER BUT &amp; THIS ONLY A EXAMPLE HOW MANY TIMES THIS YEAR DID HETAKE THE BALL RIGHT TO THE LINE &amp; PUT IN A GRUBBER WITH THE END RESULT,OPPOSITION STICK THERE FOOT OUT &amp; STOP THE BALL GOING ANYWHERE.I CANT BELEIVE THAT SOMEONE ON THE COACHING STAFF HAD`NT SAID SOMETHING TO HIM I HAVE`NT SEEN A GAME WHERE HE DID`NT DO IT 2 OR 3 TIMES HE `S GOTTA LEARN TO MIX IT UP IF NOT RESERVE GRADE . WHEN HE DOES THESE SILLY KICKS HE RUNS STRAIGHT UP THATS WHY ITS SO EASY FOR THEM TO STICK THERE FOOT OUT HE`S GOT TO RUN AT AN ANGLE.THE SAME GOES FOR RYLES &amp; THOSE SILLY PENALTIES , KITE &amp; THE DROP BALLS STOP IT OR BACKTO RESERVE GRADE 1 OR 2 CHANCES &amp; THATS IT GONE REGARDLES OF WHO COMES UP WHETHER IT`S A BETTER PLAYER OR NOT RAM HOME THE POINTMAKE EXAMPLES OF THEM MEAN BUSNESS
BROWN REALLY HAS GOT TO MAKE SOME HARD DECISIONS HE`S ALREADY MADE SOME HARD ONES BUT HE HAS TO MAKE SOME HARDER ONES
