Interesting comment, considering your viewpoint of our win over Tigpies last year...

To be perfectly accurate....... I praised the attack in that game, not he overall performance.

Marshall on track for return as Lafai ruled out

April 29, 2016, 2:50 p.m.

Benji Marshall remains a good chance to return from a hamstring injury for the Dragons in their clash with the Warriors on Sunday though centre Tim Lafai has been all but ruled out by high performance manager Tony Ayoub.
Marshall – who hasn’t played since – completed the full session on Friday and will travel with the team.
“Benji’s coming along really well but we’ve said that a couple of times in the last few weeks,” Ayoub said.
“He got through the full session [on Friday] so unless there’s any repercussions early on [Saturday] morning he’ll travel with us. He’s worked really hard and I’m sure we’re going to see the best of him from here on in.”
Lafai is unlikely to play after picking up a knee injury in the win over the Roosters.
“Unfortunately Tim’s succumbed to bit of a medial ligament tear. He strained his medial ligament just before halftime [against the Roosters] and did really well to get through the rest of the game,” Ayoub said.

“He didn’t train fully [on Friday] and was pretty sore after training so that’s pretty telling on him and whether he plays.”

Just looked at the Gallery.
Hutch is in NZ (possible double cover in case Rein and Benji are out)
Ikahihifo is over there (possible cover for Thompson)
Jacob Host wasnt named in the 20's is there (same as above)
Marketo is there (few shots of him passing from the ground)

Pretty big squad

These were taken during the training sessions at Win Stadium, not from NZ, I think they only left this morning for NZ so they wouldn't be training until tomorrow for the captains run.
Looked like a mixed session with all players from the Cutters and 1sts.

Nothing really to take from those photos but Benji's participation.

Fair enough!

32-30 vs Tigpies = amazing attacking display, Benji is a genius.

36-0 vs Warriors = Widdop is a plank, get only scored because Johnson got injured.

So you are saying the attack was generally good last season?

Not at all. But there was a select few games where the attack clicked, woth the #1 gamw being vs Sharks at Kogarah.

But your hatred of Widdop clouds your already questionable judgement.

I hate the s**t attack, not Widdop. IMO he is the biggest part of the problem but I could be wrong. You love for Widdop clouds your judgement.

Meh. I've got no real love for him at the moment. Thoroughly loved seeing what hecould do when he first got here, was impressed. But it seems that 3 years under complete planks has seen any direct running and confidence coached out of him.

The shit attack is a result of the coaching culture that believes that defense alone will build this club into a powerhouse.

It's also the fact that 2 or 3 years ago there was no 'future vision' in putting the team together. That coupled with our coaching staff unable to come up with a way to effectively bring the strengths of both players into the games is the big issue rather than Gareth and/or Benji. It therefore shouldn't be any surprise that there is no synergy, chemistry or whatever you want to call it in the halves.

As both wear the Red V, I won't be happy to see either of them go, but the writing appears to be on the wall. Whatever happens, I just hope that there is some well thought out direction behind the decisions on who goes and who we bring in.

Nightingale: Discipline Part Of Who We Are

Sat 30th April, 07:00AM A A

St George Illawarra Dragons winger Jason Nightingale admits the team will need perform better on the field when they face the New Zealand Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland on Sunday.
The Dragons were 20-18 winners over the Sydney Roosters to retain the ANZAC Day Cup last round to amass four wins from their opening eight fixtures this season.

Nightingale, 28, believes this standing is a fair reflection of the team’s efforts to date but believes he and his teammates still has room for improvement.
The New Zealand international, who will let his actions do the talking ahead of adding a potential further notch to Kiwis tally, firmly believes discipline should be respected as an important component of any team’s make-up on the back of recent criticism by third-parties directed at the Dragons.
“I’m always honoured to play on ANZAC Day and it is a highlight of our calendar year and the most recent game was no different,” said Nightingale.
“I thought we started really well but in the second-half we went into our shell a bit but it was great to get the result.
“I think any criticism is unwanted when its coming from a third-party.
“You can accept criticism when it comes from within and we’ve definitely been taken some constructive feedback on board to improve.
“When it comes from outside your Club then the less you read or hear about it the better.
“I think it is more a sign of where they are at compared to where we are at.
“To go out there and accuse people of lying down and not look at your own discipline is something you really need to do.

“I know we focus on our own discipline and it is one of our principles and if we give away a penalty, or put ourselves in a position to give away a penalty, the onus is on us.
“It’s not on the opposition it’s not on the referees but on the person who did the foul.
“Tim Lafai gave away a yardage penalty which hurt our team while Thompson is paying the ultimate price and feels terrible about what he did but the accountability is on him and he is going to do everything he can to train hard and get back on the field.
“It’s just different focuses for different clubs and obviously them coming out is more reflection on them than us.
“We’ve had a patchy start to our season and still haven’t been able to put 80 minutes on the field so that will be the goal for both sides, us and the Warriors, to put a full performance together.
“If that does happen for both teams then I think it’ll be a great contest in New Zealand.
“I think putting a performance on the field is the best way to ensure further international selection and hopefully I can do that on the weekend.
“When you get to my age then people have seen what you can do and what you are capable of, it’s just a matter of being in form at the time.”
