Salary cap under control

The NRL salary cap will officially increase to $7 million in 2017. This could rise even higher if additional money comes into the game. The ARLC and the Rugby League Players’ Association recently signed off on the code’s long-awaited collective bargaining agreement. The deal ends protracted and, at times, tense negotiations between the parties after players threatened strike action if their demands were not met.
The cap will rise from $5.85 million in 2013 to $6.3m in 2014, to $6.55m in 2015, $6.8m in 2016 and then $7m the following year

Alien I can't see a date on that, could it be for 2015?

no it says this right at the bottom:

2016 A $6.1million salary cap in 2016:

Minimum wages in 2016 of $82,500 ? up from $55,000 in 2012 ($77,500 in 2014, $80,000 in 2015).
Increase to $243,750 for each club towards the RLPA Retirement Fund, made up of $9,750 per player in Top 25
Players outside Top 25 who play 4 or more NRL games also entitled to retirement account contribution of $9,750 per annum

that's from that may 2013 article. it looks like the nrl changed their minds a bit, unless the info on their nrl.com website is wrong

I think you need to read the NRL.com web page better

$5.8 mil is the base salary cap figure

Added to this is the

$300k long service allowance (the $6.1 mil mentioned)
$600k marque player allowance
$100k vehicle allowance

Total of $6.8 mil in 2016 before 3pas and education incentives/relocation costs/medical insurance

Plus you have

$460k for RG players

$250k for U20s players
plus $31.5k school expences cap
plus $50k for u20 players outside of the U20s Top 20

on the nrl page it shows vehicle allowance and marque player allowance are outside of the cap. the under 20s caps, 2nd tier (RG) players cap, school expenses, relocation costs, medical insurance, education incentives are not a part of it either. all of it is explained on the nrl.com page. it also says the salary cap IS $6,100,000, and that the Long Serving Player Allowance ($300K) is INCLUDED. i'm reading the page right

Thats fine your right about the $6.1 mil

But when people think of the Salary Cap as a total on what they can spend on their Top 25

It includes what they can spend on marque players and vehiles

Thats why they quote the full. $6.8 mil number

yeah but if club sponsors pay for the marque player allowance, i see that as separate from the cap

no any payment from a club sponsor to a player is part off the cap. But a payment from someone no connected to the club as long as it is declared can be a grey area
