I'm finally got sick of the salary cap excuse.

Okay lets have a look at who might be taking up our cap space

Here are the 25 players we have used so far this year

Luke Brooks
Jack Buchanan
Manaia Cherrington
Josh Drinkwater
Robbie Farah
Keith Galloway
Dene Halatau
Delouise Hoeter
Chris Lawrence
Lamar Liolevave
Matt Lodge
Kyle Lovett
Nathan Milone
Mitchell Moses
Kevin Naiqama
David Nofoaluma
Pat Richards
Brenden Santi
Ava Seumanufagai
Tim Simona
Curtis Sironen
Sauaso Sue
Martin Tapau
James Tedesco
Aaron Woods

and possible other players in the cap
Sitaleki Akaoula
Asipeli Fine
Joel Luani
Keith Lulia
Kurtis Rowe

How much do you think each is being paid by the club?

This is from wiki but it does give some background as to the salary cap.

'In 1990, the NSWRL introduced a salary cap system to even the playing field of teams in the Winfield Cup. The National Rugby League has adopted the salary cap system from its predecessor. A special team headed by former Australian representative Ian Schubert deals with salary cap issues and monitors teams on a yearly basis.

As of 2013 the club grant is $7.1 million which covers the salary cap of $5.85 million for the top twenty-five players at each club. The salary cap will increase to $6.3 million in 2014, $6.55 million in 2015, $6.8 million by 2016 and $7 million in 2017.The minimum wage from 2013 onwards is $80,000 for the top twenty-five players.'

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Rugby_League_salary_cap

Am I correct in reading that that the NRL gives a grant to the Leagues Clubs of XX amount each year to contribute towards player salaries? If so, how can WT be in such a mess?

I also note there is a breakdown which says the minimum wage for the top 25 salaried in $80k p.a

The only readily accessible info is on Zero Tackle which only states Farah (900k p.a), Lawrence (300k p.a) and Tedescp (450k p.a). Others unstated.

It's an interesting one that's for sure.. Go is blaming back ended contracts creating a right royal mess for next year but which players would be responsible for that? Lawrence, Galloway, Farah are the only players I associate with the Humpty era but she also mentions board members doing the negotiating as recently as last year so who knows.

Also another thing is that other than Blair all of our payments to line ex-players pockets should be finalised. I don't know how the situation can continue to get worse and worse when there is less and less players/coaches to donate money too.

Back ended contracts are one thing that should be coming to an end, have heard that some ex-players still feel that they are owned money.
If NRL grant covers our salary cap, than its obvious that the WT other means of revenue is not generating enough to cover not only the operational cost of the club, but have struggled to cope with the sideline dramas of the back ended contracts, the Sheens payout and the Balmain leagues club mess which have all contributed to the position our club is in today.

Lawrence is around to $600K for next year.

The merkin that brought backloading to this club should be f**king shot.

My guesses

Luke Brooks - $200k
Jack Buchanan - $100k
Manaia Cherrington - $80k
Josh Drinkwater - $100k
Robbie Farah - $900k
Keith Galloway - $400k
Dene Halatau - $300k
Delouise Hoeter - $80k
Chris Lawrence - $600k
Lamar Liolevave - $80k
Matt Lodge - $100k
Kyle Lovett - $100k
Nathan Milone - $80k
Mitchell Moses - $200k
Kevin Naiqama - $120k
David Nofoaluma - $200k
Pat Richards - $300k
Brenden Santi - $80k
Ava Seumanufagai - $150k
Tim Simona - $300k
Curtis Sironen - $200k
Sauaso Sue - $100k
Martin Tapau - $150k
James Tedesco - $500k
Aaron Woods - $500k

Comes to 5.94 million

and possible other players in the cap
Sitaleki Akaoula - $100k
Asipeli Fine - $80k
Joel Luani - $100k
Keith Lulia - $150k
Kurtis Rowe - $80k

If you take out the 5 players on 80k in the top 25 and put in the bottom 5 (which would more accurately show the clubs top 25 for the year, it comes to just a tick over 6 million.

The cap is 6.3 million for this year I believe and higher again next year.

I think I've been fairly excessive with my salary guesses, yet still couldn't get to the cap limit.

obviously we're all guessing and MUs list looks pretty close to what a lot of them should be on.

the payments arent as clear as youd hope. for instance lawrences contract was insanely backloaded. say he was on $2.5mil for 5 years (again guess work), he was an australian rep and origin rep in waiting when we signed him.

for his first 3 years he got about $250k a year to fit it under the cap, his last 2 years are then $800k and $850k (ive been sold by someone who has proven to be in the know its close to this).

farah, galloway and moltzen are like this too and im guessing all the recent resignings (brooks, moses, teddy, sironen etc).

bascially the guys then (sheens and humpreys) were wanting immediate success and worry about the future when it happens...likely it will be someone elses problem anyway.

our cap is a complete disasture. from what ive heard half our cap this year and next is on farah, lawrence, galloway and woods. HALF THE ENTIRE CAP!!

They had Marshall budgeted in for 3 or 4 years at the commencement of 2014, how in the hell are they under salary cap pressure?

But I must add this unlimited (???) 3rd payments deals plays straight into the hands of Easts & Brisbane - it is a f**king joke.

Wouldn't Moltzen would be still taking up salary cap dollars?have also heard a rumour that the club is using up to 500k of cap money for operational needs, dont know if this is true or not but it would not surprise me considering WT are inactive in the player market and only seem to off load players.

I had heard Lawrence was getting $600 - $650 next year for his last year in 2016.

Robbie is on $900 per year.

Would mean Galloway and Woods $750 k each - I'm a bit skeptical mate about that...

Nofo, Brooks and Moses would be closer to $300 each.

Would have said a 100 less each for Teddy, Richards.

Like I said we're all guessingand making assumptions on what we've heard. Realistically there's probably only 1 or 2 people in the world who know what every player in our team is on. I doubt anyone on this forum is one of these people.

It's still bullshit numbers. If we are under salary cap pressure, there's a few players being paid overs. Unless it stretches back to injuries and second tier cap payments from last year?

There's a lot of players in that team at the moment that are out and out thieves.

At that member's forum at the beginning of this year, I'm pretty sure Mayer claimed we were only playing one player at another club (previously this has been plenty).

Hell. If Taupau is only on $150k, what you gonna do when his next contracts up? Plenty of clubs will come knocking i can assure you.

True, but your assumption would value Woods and Galloway as the two highest paid props in the game... By some margin...
