I am hoping Tomkins switches to 6 next season.
Hoping the same for Moylan both of them are way to small to be fullbacks, they are probably the 2 worst fbs in the comp bringing the ball back.

Tomkins should of been there this year, Warriors should of kept Locke at the back.

Locke who has been a million miles away from being the best full back in "non first grade SL" this season? He hasn't even been the best full back at Salford

Think it was mentioned by Joey Johns on the commentary at the weekend - Morley, Ellis, Burgess, Graham - all took a while to adjust to new surroundings of the NRL. Tomkins has had arguably the best first season of all of those players. He'll only get better in this league

I'm a Tomkins fan but he really needs to work on defusing bombs and that's one area where SL is behind NRL mostly because the storm worked closely with AFL clubs on catching above the head with two hands as opposed to catching it on the chest and that ultimately trended throughout the NRL.

Exemplified perfectly in the Australia v NZ game, this weekend when all bombs were diffused perfectly. Oh, no, hang on....

Dylan Walker was on debut against the kiwis and isn't a fullback so of course he was gonna drop a few, even Lockyer was dropping bombs against the kiwis on debut. It's like a right of passage for Aussie fulbacks plus Inglis was under quite a bit of pressure. I don't think the English players can't catch, it's just that the technique of catching is different that's why Joel Monaghan scores so many tries. Catching above your head makes a big difference. Just look at Winterstein's try when Pritchard caught a bomb when Tomkins had forward momentum and Dean Whare's try against the Kangaroos.

Fullbacks don't need to be big at all :/. Bowen, Slater, Stewart, milford, Tomkins, barba (before he went off the wall) etc. There are plenty of great little fullbacks. In general fullbacks aren't really that big and it's actually a disadvantage if it impacts your mobility. The likes of Hayne, Dugan and Inglis have changed things slightly but you don't have to go down that route.

I'm still of the opinion that guys like Inglis aren't optimal at fullback. He gets away with it because he is a freak athlete but he's still a liability against a player with a good kicking game. Basically outside of the odd exception small fullbacks are the way to go.

Not sure how 5/8 helps either. In the halves you're defending against centres and wide running second rowers, this is hardly the place to hide if you're small and a weak defender. If anything fullback covers that up more, you're more doing cover defense than tackling big guys head on regularly. You put someone like Moylan in the front line and teams will be running forwards at him all day long.

Or "Change the ref to an Aussie because we think we might get pumped" award?

Few local nominees for that one recently
