yes I do have a massive problem with it, the NRL should have a stand alone brand that is consistent and instantly recognisable. Any marketing Cert3 student will tell you the importance of a strong recognisable company brand. Hopefully they will and I hope the leaked logo doing the rounds is an indication there will be. if not expect to see this on next years jerseys (presuming Telstra get naming rights again)

HSBC, Mazda, Samsung, Bank of Queensland (though have now dropped the Lions due to Victorian Liddy retiring), Wespac, NAB are more companies involved with other codes bar league.

The problem is Victorian based companies usually back AFL. NSW based companies don't necessarily go for league, there is a bit of PC or snobbery involved. Swisse is Victorian, Sanitarium is NSW - Central Coast. Coles (Victorian) has an arrangement with 9 during league games. Woolworths (NSW) not seen.

This finals season we are getting flogged in the product endorsement area

Cadbury
Coke
sanitarium
Coles

Etc

Are all running AFL only promos nationally

Goes to show the value of having a national footprint

These companies look at it on paper and say why bother doing 2 campaigns when one will go great in Vic sa and wa

And ok in qld and NSW

They know they will get massive negative feedback from retailers if they run anything RL I'm Vic

But in NSW most people just cop it sweet shrug there shoulders and buy Cadbury regardless

What idiot decided to incorporate Telstra into the nrl branding thus meaning a change to our brand whenever we get a new sponsor or they change their corporate branding or colours?

Don't AFL have Toyota as a part of their logo? And the EPL has Barclays in their logo.

What are you on about ?

Sanitarium are based on the NSW Central Coast, about an hour north of Sydney.

They support the Mariners (local a-league team) and the Aussie Cricket team, who else do they support?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ian Schubert effect has an impact on corporate branding as well

The players can't earn money for the Coles ad etc like goodes would

Castrol on TV last night using the Wallabies to advertise their new oil. Anybody remember a Kangaroos featured ad for a product?

Only the most unobservant f**kwit would have missed the fact the Telstra Premiership logo changed during the finals last year and has been PAINTED ON THE FIELD FOR EVERY GAME THIS YEAR.

The logo you'll see on jerseys next year is this:

And it's not uncommon in elite sporting competitions around the world:

Hyundai A-League etc... the list goes on.

The only real major one that doesn't change per season due to sponsorship is the NFL. They're actually an exception to the rule.

Did any of them change their games logo colour to the sponsor companies corporate colours? I think not! I doubt they will have the blue logo when Telstra are no longer using those colours.

Telstra have a suite of brand colours you fool.

Given you didn't have the foggiest clue that the competition logo changed a year ago, don't even pretend to know what you're on about.

Competition logos change over time, fact of life. Get a clue.

ignore the drongo as he's not happy unless he's complaining

btw how do you know what next years logo will look like when they haven't announced a naming rights sponsor?

The logo changed a year ago.

Next year is an assumption, yes, but if Telstra are to retain the rights as expected, that will remain the logo.
