Was at the Pratten Park Magpies dinner last night. Top evening as the Magpie greats honoured one of the best. Bill Horder was the guest of honour for the evening, joining Yappy and Jimmy Sharman as the honourees of these now annual dinners. Bill was a tough as Front Rower who was part of both the Magpies 48 and 52 Premiers as well as playing for NSW in 49.

The big announcement on the night that should excite ever Magpie fan was the confirmation of the Western Suburbs Magpies Team of the Century Evening. Ok we know who the honourees are, but this is the club's chance to honour them properly, without having them have to play second fiddle to some 'composite' side. Will be a huge night for Magpie fans, and will sell out real fast. The presentation will be at Wests Ashfield on Saturday August 14 from 7pm and tickets are strickly limited to 400. The tickets are $95 each, and you will be able to pay by installments if you need. I'll let you know as soon as I confirm when and how tickets are on sale.

I'd also much rather sit at home reading 'The Collected Wit and Wisdom of Tigerdan' for the 2.8 microseconds it would take to read it cover to cover before taking a bath in sulfuric acid and poking my eyes out with a teaspoon than to attend a Tigers Team of the Century promotion (either kind*). That's why the topic heading specifically refers to Magpie fans.

* actually I probably wouldn't mind the Balmain TotC too much (so long as someone else was paying). At least they had a team last century.

I would rather pay $1,000 for a seat at this dinner than get given $1,000 to go to Wests 'Joke of the Century' Dinner.

Everyone at Balmain has lost the plot.... i am not sure if they think they are running a football & leagues club or a fairy floss van.
