This guy, Mr. 'I'm bigger than the game' won't go to a club because he liked Mal and Loz as a kid. He'll go where the money is. And probably, where the nightlife is.

We've shown constantly that we refuse to throw cash at players and we all know the perception that Canberra is the boringest place on Earth on a Saturday night. Although Carney and Goodwin went some way to disproving this.

We're no chance of SBW.

Yeah Mick Monaghan would be awesome, a crap player that couldnt crack it 10 years ago when we were absolute junk. How could you possibly rather Monaghan signing with us than SBW?

But yeah lets sign a player that previously has had no impact at our club, is in the back end of his career and hasnt played halfback for the last 5 years.

I remember him playing pretty well for us after Elliott had decided we didn't want him in 2003...and he never embarrassed himself playing for Manly.

Rag on him all you like, but he's got tools - good organisation, passing and kicking games. Herbert and McCrone come nowhere near his game, putting extra pressure on Campo. Bring Monaghan into the side and it gives us a strong halves pairing, one that can put us in the finals.

So what I meant was, if SBW sized money is available, I'd prefer to spend some of it on a pretty good halfback rather than just investing in one huge marquee player.

I wouldnt say they are going after him. Asked if you want a quality player in your side ofcourse your going to say yes, I'm sure the furners would say the exact same thing if it was Cameron Smith.

Waste of time anyway. The whole world knows SBW would probably rather retire than play in canberra.

I not only cant see him coming to the Raiders but League either.

If he wants to return to league then Id like to think we would have some money to have a chance of getting him.

Also why dont we ask the NRL to help us in terms of 3rd party payments , they have been willing to help other clubs in the past.

I always thought he was over-rated.... Certainly over paid... He didn't deserve all the cred he got and the smoke the media blew up his arse for what, on that amount of money, is actually a fairly below par performance... He reminds me way too much of Anthony "The Mouth" Mundine... A player who thinks he is so top sh*t he can do ONE good thing a game and get paid millions then f**k off to another sport as he has already "reached the top" of this one...

I don't think he was over-rated, certainly a victim of his own success though. He was easily one of the premier backrowers in the comp and would walk into any side.

canberra's interest is not so much because of sbw's playing ability, it's the interest and exposure that would come with him. Imagine the increases in season ticket sales/attendances, sponsorship, free-to-air games etc and just lifting the overall profile of the club. The signing would be a financial bonanza.

It may be a huge longshot but thinking about it now, I hope canberra do chase him with everything they have. It's about time we signed a star marquee player.

He might have occasionally been injured but I struggle to think of a player who has DESTROYED us like SBW did a few years ago. Jesus that was a long day.
