Schuster insists Madrid will snare Ronaldo 'one day'

Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster is more determined than ever to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, the player he believes has deposed Kaka as the best in the world.

Schuster accepts it will be almost impossible to prise the Portugal winger away from Old Trafford in the near future but reckons he will one day join the Spanish giants.

'In these types of things it is best to be realistic. Cristiano Ronaldo right now is a 10 out of 10, the best in the world,' said Schuster of the player who last night scored his 36th goal of a sensational season.

'But I don't see Manchester United as being in the business of selling.'

Schuster added in Spanish newspaper AS: 'In the short term I cannot see it as being possible, but I think in a few years that he could wear the Madrid shirt in the Bernabeu.

'He is the star at Old Trafford and until he wins a Champions League and some more Premier League titles they are not going to allow him to escape.'

Comparing 23-year-old Ronaldo with the reigning World Player of the Year, Schuster said: 'For me, Cristiano Ronaldo is already better than Kaka after the Brazilian's loss of form at Milan this season.

'Some day he will be with us...'

Schuster also spoke highly of Chelsea striker Drogba and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano, the leading scorer in Spain's Primera Liga this season.

'For me they also seem very good,' Schuster said. 'Madrid, if they sign, have to aspire to get the best.'

Keep dreaming, idiot.

Man U loves Cristiano and Cristiano loves Man U.

Why the f**k would he leave Salford?

the only way i could see him going to madrid is if he has a falling out with sir alex...

but madrid certainly cant just buy him with an open chequebook like they do with smaller clubs.

Honestly, Real Madrid are buying a new player every day if the media reports from Spain are to be believed. Just yesterday Marca was claiming that they were closing on both Aquilani and De Rossi from Roma, adding them to a list of about 15 other players they'll supposedly be bringing in over the summer, despite the fact that they have a ridiculously large and talent-stacked squad already.

And, trying to be more conscious of their local player pool, they're apparently bringing back well-performing cantera players De La Red and Javi Garcia like they did with Soldado last season (and considering how he's spent his season back in Madrid, this means a combined total of 0 La Liga games for the pair to look forward to next season).

Winning titles or not, Real Madrid will forever be the biggest source of comedy in world football.

Obviously I didn't.

Schuster should worry about his job before he worries about Ronaldo. It's a pretty safe bet he won't be there if/when that "one day" comes.

I think even the most ardent Man Yoo fan will be able to admit that Ronaldo will try his luck in the La Liga or Serie A before his career ends.

I doubt he'll move any time soon, but after a couple of years, he'll go.

I find it interesting Ronaldo is described, still, as a winger.

He gets forward that often, pops up in the centre that often, in my mind, he isnt a winger.

Best player in the world?

Quite possibly. Looking forward to watching him at Euro.

Optimistic.

He'll go to Spain, probably to Madrid, outside chance to Barca. Mind you he's in negotiations to extend his contract beyond 2012, and he keeps saying he wants to be among the likes of Cantona in United's history so you never know.
