WTF!?!?

Now I've heard some dodgy team names in my time, but this one has to be right up there as one of the worst ever! Anyone know any more details? Are they moving grounds or simply just changing names? We know how well constant and name and venue changes can be, just look at the London Broncos!

They are moving to Merthyr Tydfil. Which is an absolute dump of a town but at least might be a permanent home for them. I still don't understand why they left Neath, it was by far their best venue and they've been nomadic and pretty much a ghost club since then. They also have a high profile new director of rugby in former Wales RU international Lee Byrne who says he wants to take them to Super League, which is a bit of a stretch IMO but it does look like the club have turned a corner so good luck to them.

Ironmen is a pretty good name IMO, a lot better than 'Scorpions' which was just completely random and weird. Fun fact, Merthyr was also the home of the first professional RL club in Wales which existed from 1907-1911.

The union team is the Ironmen and it has local relevance. Bet they move again within a couple of years though. I'm pretty sure this is their fourth home already.

I liked Scorpions as a mascot, even though it might have lacked any real relevance. Animal mascots all the way

The Scorpions mascot was one of the strangest I've seen in British RL.

WTF is that. The only one I can think that comes close is the Doncaster mascot which is, no joke, a guy in a Vila Matautia suit.

South Wales will struggle for relevance until they bite the bullet and move to either Cardiff or Swansea.As for Ironmen I don't think it's any better than Scorpions.

Although I've never been from what I've seen on TV Merthyer is a total dump. Perhaps they are going for the Leagues is a working mans sport angle.
I do wish they would scrap all these silly names they're just so false and not very English at all. Wakefield Trinity have dropped the wildcats for next season, I hope it's a sign of things to come.

I am really sad to see the Scorpions go. I put a bit of money into the club in the first years through supporter membership and was a constant supporter... But I don't know if I can make this leap.

The constant moves. I thought Scorpions was a great brand.
