The Sydney Metropolitan competition, known as the Jim Beam Cup, last night named Scott Ella as the inaugural player of the year.
Ella's uncle is Steve Ella who has known as "Zip Zip" for his exciting turn of pace when he played with the Parramatta Eels and for Australia in the 1980s.
Scott (22) plays for Wentworthville on the wing where he reportedly displays of familial abilities of swerve and pace.
Wentworthville are vying with the Sydney Bulls for a place in the Jum Beam Cup grand final, which will be held at Telstra Stadium on NRL grand final day.
The Entrance Tigers have already earnt a place in the season decider.
