I'm sure that if it had been union players and not league players who had *allegedly assaulted* this woman, then the league supporters would be putting the boot into union as well.

but it would be two lines on the 22nd page of the local newspaper if it was union, noone would know about it, like the car stealer which got about 4 sentences in the middle of the paper

I wouldnt be at all suprised if there are a number people within the Aussie media with big agendas against RL, especially given the strange hatred that seems to exist between codes of sport over there. But isnt the difference in coverage of these two particular stories largely due to the sensational nature of the allegations against a number of unnamed Bulldog players & the fact that RL is followed by a lot more people than union in Australia, hence a lot more media interest? Any jouno is going to go after a story about alleged pack rape, possibly involving men with public profiles, over a car theft involving some virtual unknown.

For what its worth, even though the story has got a fair bit of coverage in NZ, its not front page stuff & from what I've seen and read the reputation of RL isnt being attacked. The story is being regarded as a Bulldogs issue, no more, no less.

I would agree with that statement AKL4E. In fact if you read the AKL hearld today there is a big right up on the start of the NRL, who are odds on to win, what the strengths are of each team. Stacie has a big mugshot of him on the Front page of the Sports section. Then there is a rather small article about the on going saga of the Bulldogs. All positive stuff I thought even a realistic prediction from Lowe that the Warriors would finish 3rd (not the usual high octane prediction you usually get when it makes it to the media).

During the RWC there was many a letter from MUNGO supporters taking cheap shots at REAL RUGBY. You were notably absent in condeming that. Get real mate or shut your mouth....I have not seen many Rugger types accused of Anal, vaginal and oral sexual assault. Of course the accused are innocent until proven otherwise or whitewashed. let's hope justice not spin doctoring is the case in this instance.

I find it hard to understand how someone that considers themselves a family man could take a "team approach' ahead of a justice one in a matter such as this. I loathe league and the 'DOGS' in particular, BUT I have not condemmed them until they are proven guilty. Unfortunately they are not playing the upfront game with the Cops. We, the general public want to know that gang rape penalties apply to all guilty people not just Arabs.

I heard a woman claim that she was raped by Brisbane rugby players 20 years ago. Or does that not count?

How many other times have league players been accused of gang rape? What, 2 or 3? It happens in all codes though, so just get over it please

When do you think the woman will get over it. I know a REAL victim that still cannot go to sleep because of a Rape that occurred 82 years ago. Justice is what we all want. If you can't understand this then i feel very sorry for you. I do not want the Bulldog players convicted if innocent BUT, I do want them locked away for a very long time if guilty. The Police describe the event as a very serious sexual assault. Someone did more than engage in consensual sex. Get the guilty and get them off the street. If it is Doggies, you will eventually GET OVER IT.
