Sea Eagles Recruits for 2013

MICHAEL CHEE KAM (@chee_kam)| 21 | BACK ROW | RAIDERS
A stand out in the Toyota Cup Team of the Year, Chee Kam is one of the most promising junior talents in the competition and a great first grade prospect for the Sea Eagles in 2013.

DANE CHISHOLM (@dane_chisholm) | 22 | HALF/ FIVE-EIGHTH | TIGERS
Talented playmaker who made his NRL debut for the Storm in 2011. The son of former Manly halfback Rick Chisholm, Dane is returning to his roots on the peninsula.

RICHIE FA’AOSO | 28 | PROP | STORM
Hardworking front rower who makes great metres running steaming straight lines. Sure to be a handful for opposition packs in 2013. He has plenty of first grade experience, including this year's grand final win, under his belt.

JACOB GAGAN | 20 | OUTSIDE BACK | EELS
Former Australian Schoolboy and one of Parramatta's most imactful Toyota Cup stars in 2012. Speed demon and classy finisher who has plenty of NRL potential.

DAVID GOWER | 27 | PROP | DRAGONS
A mobile front rower with a great offload and fend. He was the Illawarra Cutters' NSW Cup player of the Season in 2012 and made a handful of first grade appearances for the Dragons this year.

JAMES HASSON (@jameshasson13) | 20 | BACK ROW | SHARKS
Impressive young back rower, born in England but played his junior footy in Sydney. Can tackle and doesn't mind scoring a try. Also a mad Liverpool fan.

PETA HIKU | 21 | OUTSIDE BACK | WARRIORS
Very damaging runner who played wing, fullback and five-eighth for the Warriors Toyota Cup side in 2012. He stood out in every position, distinguishing himself as the Warriors' U20s Player of the Year and earning a spot in the Junior Kiwis. Addicted to breaking tackles, his metres for 2012 were only topped by fellow Sea Eagles signing Ligi Sao.

BRENTON LAWRENCE | 27 | PROP | TITANS
Powerful forward with plenty of pace and footwork who's worked his way up from Adelaide park footy. He stepped up for the Titans this year, making the most of every one of his minutes. He'll add strength and depth to the Sea Eagles pack.

JUSTIN LEMALU | 20 | PROP | SEA EAGLES NYC
One of the most outstanding performers in the Sea Eagles Toyota Cup side. Proved his impact when he returned from injury and inspired Manly's late-season surge. Absolute workhorse and huge yard gainer.

LIGI SAO (@LigiSao) | 20 | PROP | WARRIORS
Powerhouse prop who plays long minutes and chews through the metres every game. One of the leading front rowers in the Toyota Cup in 2012, he's a big kid with a big future. Sao is sure to be a cracker signing for the Sea Eagles.

JESSE SENE-LEFAO (@jsenelefao) | 23 | BACK ROW | PANTHERS
On the verge of making his NRL debut at Penrith and the loss of a couple of back rowers sees plenty of opportunity for him to crack first grade at the Sea Eagles.

Good pick up with Lawrence. He has tremendous pace for a front rower and would be the quickest going around. Scored 2 tries from half way this year with the Titans with his pace and no one could catch him.

Biggest problem has been his hands

David Gower is a good pick up from the Dragons. Really rate him. Don't know why Price didn't give him much game time. Curious about Sao. Is his nickname "Soggy"?

It's its a good looking bunch of recruits. I was worried about prop depth and losing Harrison but Chee Kam sounds good and anyone who has come up from Adelaide park football must be doing something right.

Fa'aoso could be an interesting pick up. Has just spent half a season with Bennett and then Bellamy. Although he struggled to get regular FG he did enough to get a premiership ring at the Storm. After spending some time under those coaches and in the Storm camp, he probably arrives at Manly in the best physical shape he has ever been in and a better player than he was 12 months ago. At his age and position he might be ready to peak.

cannot see the point in esi tonga a joke of a player, with ben farrar there and young hiku we have cover if killer or matai go down injury and matai usual 4 week suspension.

Horo goes ok, but will no doubt have buhrer, chee kam, choc, gifty and joe to compete with for spot.

Bulldog comes home: McGlinchy returns to Eagles Nest

Sea Eagles recruit Dean McGlinchy.

THE Sea Eagles have struck back at arch-rivals Canterbury by pinching promising international centre Dean McGlinchy from the Bulldogs' kennel.
The powerhouse 22-year-old Avalon junior who is in the Italian rugby league World Cup squad has returned home to the northern beaches after the last three years at Belmore and could prove a surprise packet next season.
McGlinchy's signing comes after Canterbury poached a number of Sea Eagles staff following Des Hasler's defection to Belmore.
``It is good to be back, I feel revitalised and this is like a fresh new start,'' McGlinchy told the Manly Daily.
``And it's only a short drive from Avalon down to Narrabeen after driving for an hour to get to Belmore.''
While McGlinchy enjoyed his time at the Bulldogs, he has always been a peninsula boy at heart.
``I've lived at Avalon since I was born and it's good to be back in the community,'' he said.
He started playing for the local footy team when he was six and stayed there until he was 16.
He was a member of the Sea Eagles under-17 development squad and was set to play SG Ball with Daly Cherry-Evans, Kieran Foran and Darcy Lussick before breaking his hand.
McGlinchy then spent two years with the Tigers SG Ball side before spending three years with the Bulldogs NSW Cup squad.
While he will start in the NSW Cup side, McGlinchy's goal is to crack the NRL squad.
``I'm pretty committed at the moment. I've been doing extra training on my own as well as the sessions with Manly,'' he said.
`` I feel really settled in.''
McGlinchy qualified for the Italian side through his mother who is Italian-German and he he recently played against Fiji.
Sea Eagles head strength and conditioning guru Don Singe is excited about the potential he sees in McGlinchy.
''Physically Dean is a beast,'' Singe said.
``He is a big strong, fast, aggressive player and he obviously works hard himself.
``I will train him for repeat ability so that he is like a Steve Matai and can just go again and again.''

Will chee kam be a chance at 1st grade net year?
