Shit catch line, like the ad though. It’s a different way in to talking about the importance of league to the everyday punter. The 80 minutes in a week thing resonates, it’s good. I do agree though, will be interesting to see how they cut it down

Anyone in the game know which advertising agency the nrl uses?

Pretty much how I saw it. I liked the ad but was waiting for a few on field action clips(why not, it’s a great sport).

And the #howweleague tagline seems like it’s straight out of a school mums friends group #mumswholunch.

Why not go with ‘the greatest game of all’. It worked well for many years & retro is still ‘on trend’(f*ck I hate that phrase but have wanted to use it at least once in my life).

This is how we league is a f**kin awful tagline

Some turd in white shoes in surry hills thought that up

I cringe when I hear kids say I'm playing league this year... In a RL strong hold area, u just say I'm playing footy .. no one is gonna think that's soccer , union or afl

I thought the ad was pretty good, but would have loved to have seen some on-field action too.

In terms of timing, I get having the big launch a week before the season, but there should be more advertising at least a few weeks before too. We need to get the casual viewers thinking about the game more, build them up for the start of the season.

A very forgettable ad, combined with a season launch Midweek the week before the season starts.
Sort of sums up the NRL.
Bring back the ads along the line of those used for the Winfield Cup.

Reminds me of a Nike ad. Catchy background beat and a slow’ish build up. Great use of light and a strong, gradual build up to the crescendo
Same here, I like it. Even had a bit of humour with the Go Tigers at the end. Humour! In an NRL ad! Nice

For those who prefer the tired old cliche "supercut highlights played over a rock anthem" I'm sure the channel 9 ad will look after you

Not a bad ad at all. Considering the Nrl is trying to engage new and old supporters and kids for the junior grassroots systems it ticks all the boxes for me. Howweleague is a all inclusive fan to player tagline. Is it also a look into the future on what the Nrl hierarchy want to call our great game? League?

I'm also glad they didn't go with the usual 'Play a whole lot of the biggest hits/ best tries of the past 2 seasons with the commentators losing their shit interspersed with shots of the fans' formula.

This ad has a story-line to it and the night-time setting ads to the understated feel. It resembles something from a major sportswear label more than the NRL. Saying that, I would've liked just a sprinkling of game footage- either at the end or throughout the clip- just a quick flash of a bit hit or one of the better tries scored in recent times. Just a 'teaser' of what you see on-field, and why the fans turn up in the first place...

Surprised Teddy didn’t rock up in a Ferrari or something supplied by uncle nick

Would’ve been way more accurate

Say it every year, just bring back Simply the Best, own it as the games slogan and official anthem. Have different renditions of it each year by different artists. It's not hard!

I would usually agree but we were too slow. Most kids just hear the Hungry Jacks ad song now. Some ads really destroy songs (Bon Jovi and betting ads)
