Season Tix - BGA Squad

OK I'm perusing the season Tix and I have 3 other mates joining me. We'd like to be on the northern terrace in the BGA Squad but since I can see that nothing will be happening with the ad boards we've all agreed that we will get tix in the terrace pending any further developments next year.

We are getting them by the end of October.

Has anyone heard anything about removing the ad boards on the northern terrace?

those boards will not be moving until they get the funding up and running for a new Northern Grandstand

It wont be cheap either plus each sponsor is forking out about $30,000 to be on those boards

i'd like a decent scoreboard you can see in the sun light too, if we're being picky. Can't see it half the time from the cronin stand

They want people to be members but are not willing to accomodate members requests, I know it's the stadium trust mainly it makes people want to avoid sitting on both the northern (ad boards) and southern (alcohol free) terraces and that is not a good thing for the Parramatta club at all.

That's a very good point, and something that could be discussed at the B+G Army meeting.

What I would like to know is what it would cost in lost revenue and construction costs to move the signs to the back of the hill.
ie. What reduction in advertising revenue would be lost as opposed to the gains in extra fans buying match tickets over the course of a season to stand on the hill?
Also, the signs could still be there, just further back, so a small reduction in advertising income to make up for a slightly reduced exposure could surely be covered?

Any word on that Northern Grandstand? Or are we still waiting for the Council, NSW and National Governments to get their act together?

Considering WIN Stadium at Wollongong has just been given approx $30mil from the State Government to make a new Granstand, our club is still waiting for funding for our Northern/Southern Stand.

Once funding is up, that stand will have new corporate facilities, also a new Home Dressing room and Gym

With regards to the signage boards, they currently stand on the tar pathway which is flat, moving those boards back will result in further construction with making sure the top of that hill is flat so the signage can go up plus then putting in new seats, etc

It's not as easy as you people think it is, plus the Stadium Trust would need to sign this off and that could take some time with them footing some of the bill and then who exactly is going to tip in the extra funds to get this all going?

To simply say "move the boards back" etc is a bit hard when u need to look at the overall result.

How many members sit there champ?

They exactly aren't knocking on Ozzie's door to have these signs removed are they?

The Club cant do much about it, it's the Trust who runs/operates the Stadium, we (club) are just a tennant

Between $7,000 and $15,000 a year depending on how often they can turn up on Television, there are 6 of them and as such would range in value between the two figures, could see about $65,000 a year in revenue for the Northern Hill alone.

So in relation to BGA memberships, you would need almost 400 (393) full paying ($165) members in that section to match the revenue they make, which would surely see them moved.

But as I have said a few times there are other solutions to allow People on the Northern Hill to see a Video replay screen without the need for construction and revenue drops in moving the current boards before a grand stand is put in place, simply have the club invest in a small portable outdoor video screen as they did for the 2006 or 2007 March footy show appearance at Parramatta Stadium. Put it in the Ambulance slip way and quite simply, Bob's your uncle.

It's a Stadium Trust issue and not a club issue

why not have a video screen at both ends of the ground, costs can be covered by advertising surrounding the new screen.

The Video screen at the Northern end is a requirement of the NRL and as far as I am aware provided by them to a point (NRL contract with Screencorp/ bytecraft) but to have a permanent video screen costs (i was told in 2003) $5 million to purchase and lasts for 5 - 10 years when left to the elements without replacing panels that may go bad.

On the Other hand the scoreboard screen is just a set of 3 lights behind a screen (Yeah I know how a video screen works and it is 3 colour guns on a screen) but as far as I know the Scoreboard is just lamps and hence they last longer the video LED's

and as the major tenant we should be able to pressure the Trust to accommodate improvements that would benefit both parties. We have already moved 2 games away from the Stadium and failure to negotiate may mean more games be moved, in particular the high income generating games that attract larger crowds.

We also have members on the trust who would be sympathetic to the issue surrounding the football club.

Ok, I'm fully aware of that, but considering we are their only major tennant, I would have thought that we have a fairly powerful voice with regards to what happens at the joint.

I think you'll find it's 394, however because of GST it is actually 434 full members. Not only that but it is 434 extra members who are only members because of the movement of signage. Any member who signed up regardless of the ad boards doesn't count to the 434. On top of that even if we were able to get the extra members thus facilitating the ads moving, smart advertisers would then offer even more to keep their signs where they are because the increased membership would mean extra exposure.

Just detailing how difficult moving those boards will be. North & South grandstands would be the way to go.

it probably could be done cheaper

To date, it has spent more than $1 million improving changerooms, $1.5 million on a new public address system, $1.63 million for a new video screen at the southern end and $1.32 million on new public kiosks.

The stadium existed quite happily for over 15 years without them there.

$1.5 million dollar screen for Hindmarsh Stadium 29/5/2008 A permanent replay screen will be installed at Hindmarsh Stadium so the venue can continue to host A-League football and other major events.

The screen costing approximately $1.5 million will be installed at the northern end of the ground, replacing the temporary screen currently located in the southeastern corner of the stadium.

With Dennis there, we will never have the upper hand

Who moved the 2 games to Homebush?

it actually reinforces my opinion.
Why did Denis move the games?
To increase revenue to the football club because ANZ offered a guaranteed payment.

This proves he put the football club before the interests of the stadium trust.

Now he only has the position on the stadium trust so should be concerned if they were to loose income by us moving more games.
