Seasons big improvers.

Every side has players who have played a bigger role than would have been expected at the begining of the season. At the two ends of the experience scale, Jason Taylor has been great for the Eels, despite even many Eels fans thinking he would be a waste of space, and Braith Anasta has proven to be as good as many bulldogs fans hoped he would be.

Who are the big improvers from your team?

From the Knights;

Steve Simpson - Started the season as a steady forward with a high workrate and a low mistake rate but with no offloading skills and seemingly little ability to break the line or really be punishing in defence. He was named on the bench for Country firsts and has seemed to blossom since that game. Before that game he concentrated very hard on doing his job with as few mistakes as possible, but since then he has gained confidence in his own abilities and now regularly breaks the line, offloads and goes for big hits in defence.

Josh Perry - To be honest, I'd hoped he would develop quicker than he has but started the season as a fringe firstgrader and is now a good first grade prop. At 20, he can only keep on developing from here. I think he is playing well at the moment and is hitting his straps at the right end of the season.

Sean Rudder - The Knights were left with no 5/8 one week before the start of the season due to an injury to Matt Gidley. Rudder, a fringe firstgrader at second row, was given the task of learning a new position from scratch. He made a very ordinary start but has managed to learn his role on the field to the point he has been amongst the top three or four players in the team in the last three or four games.

Andrew Johns - Many thought he was the best player in the game before the season, so how do you improve on that? Well, you go from star to superstar - and Johns has taken that step up.

Danny Buderus - Has been a great Hooker for a few years but his two rep games, one for country firsts and one for Australia, have shown he is a standout player in any company. He is the best ball distributor in the game and a very good tackler with a high workrate. These are 'unglamorous' skills, but ask any coach what he would like to see in a hooker.

Mark Hughes - Another 'unglamorous' player who has shown the value of being a good, steady, mistake free player this year. Has been great for the club and did his job for the state.

well roopy where do i start, with the outstanding contributors from the boys down south i have narrowed it down to two,

matt orford-tries week in week out,who can blame him for wanting to get out,the other players have there premiership rings are content to play out the rest of there careers for the pay packet only.

richard swain-what an inspiration,unfortunatly orford appears to be the only one taking notice,good on ya swainy you are a competitor.

For the Raiders:
Sean Rutgertson
Terry Martin
Ryan Ohara
Clinton Schifcofske (ok, he was always good but he has been unbelievable this year. The number 2 fullback in the comp in my opinion)

For the entire league I would say Preston Campbell and Ben Galea stand out.
