Second chances - Danny Wicks

So... Wicks wants a club to give him a shot. He looks like he is super fit and has a point to prove.

How do we feel about this one? On one hand, he put our club through hell. On the other hand, this guy had a lot of god given talent... and we always lamented the fact that he wasn't motivated. I bet he has learned a lot in his time away from the game.

My take on it is that we can take the high ground here and not look at him - another club will give him a crack for minimum wage and he may or may not be a success story. We could also give him a crack ourselves on minimum wage and give the guy a chance to undo some of the harm he caused us. A slim, fit and motivated Danny Wicks could be a weapon for us on peanuts... and even if he's no chop, it wouldn't cost us much. I say give him a crack at redemption. We are that desperate and you don't get a chance at potential quality forwards on minimum wage too often.

Simply no.

He left a huge black mark on the club's image that will take a very, very long time to vanish as long as we have incidents occur. As desperate as we are to sign a player like Wicks, I just don't want us to take in someone who damaged the club so much.

At the time I wanted him hung drawn and quartered but since having kids I realise we are all human so I would be happy for the club to give him a second shot.

Our PR couldn't get any worse anyway. I'm sick of watching the club try to take the high road only to be shat on by all and sundry regardless. f**k the PR IMO. Wicks could be spun into a good news story if he goes well and behaves himself.

And if he doesnt pervy? Too big a risk for bugger all gain imo

Would be a bad move for any club to sign him, more so for the Knights. He may have served his time but he has a stain on his name that wont be erased any time soon

Who's to say the guy even wants to be back at the club? He may have felt like the club didn't offer him any/enough support and is looking elsewhere. The only link to our club in the article is the reporter stating that Bennett likes
to give players a second chance.

Do we want to be good guys, or win football matches? I prefer to have an ex-pill slinger in my team than someone caught doings PEDs.

I get where some of you guys are coming from, I just can't cop the idea of another club picking him up and having all the feel good redemption stories whilst we continue to bare the ill effects of his actions.

I doubt there are many people left at the club that were involved back then, tbh. Even so, I don't think Wicks will be able to afford to be particularly picky. I feel like the bloke should feel somewhat indebted to us after the shitstorm he put us through.

Are you really that desperate? You really think the club will benefit from this bloke being back?

You can't jus f#ck the PR side of things Pervy. We are on a knife's edge right now. Whether you like it or not that is the way it is. I get you frustrations. I feel them too. We all do. Tinkler lied to us when you break it down. His guarantee was anything but. He hid away when he needed to be visible. We may end up in more debt than before he came to own the joint. This is far from over the ownership battle and inviting wicksy back is not a great move if we are going to need every sponsorship dollar we can find.

I think it has more potential to do good then harm, yep.

I can't see it affecting our sponsorships more than being perennial also-rans. Sponsors will be tripping over themselves to 'save the knights' and get a piece of that PR.

I find it pretty hypocritical of a Knights fan to hate on Wicks, whilst they have no problem having Houston at the club.

Oh trust me I have a problem having Houston at the club...granted though not much of that is drug related lol.
