OK, Mal Meninga has gone through. Now it is time to decide the second centre for the team. I am including two other great backs, who have failed to make it in their customary positions: Brett Mullins and Ken Nagas.

OK, the nominees are: Laurie Daley, Ron Giteau, Peter Jackson, Brett Mullins, Ken Nagas, Ruben Wiki.

Remember: Daley will be a prime candidate for best ever 5/8th and Wiki a prime candidate for the forwards, or at least the bench. Therefore if you plan to vote for them in other positions, don't vote for them here.

Any extra nominations will still be entertained but must be submitted before tomorrow.

IMO, the big question is whether Peter Jackson will be pushed out of the team by Brett Mullins playing out of position?

I'm going Mullins, but only because I have to.

As good as I've heard Peter Jackson was, sadly I was too young to remember him play for us. Same with Giteau. I'm not voting for Laurie because he deserves to go in at 5/8th. Ruben should go in the forwards. Even though Mullins and Nagas didn't really play in the centres, Mullins deserves to be in the team somewhere... soooo, he gets my vote.

What half of these aren't centres, I vote Croker despite not being named, 5 times the centre Mullins or Nagas could dream of being

And Jackson is better still. I would encourage all of you who haven't SEEN the players, to look up their records...... Peter Jackson was a great player for us. Croker is a lock forward in my view.

Jacko was great ... unfortunately moved to the broncs before the '89 GF ... I can remember Badge on the '89 video gesturing to a nearby TV camera "teasing" Jacko ... real unfortunate how he died.

Huh?

Anyway... I'm going for Nagas here. Although I think Mullins should be in the team somewhere, and Jackson was awesome, Nagas was just so graceful. He never looked like he was trying, and I believe he also should be in the team.

The only thing that split them IMO was the position. I voted for mullins at fullback and wing, and although kenny was a winger, I believed Mullins to be the better winger despite playing fb. with this one however, I believe Nagas is a much better centre than mullins....

At least I know what i mean... 8)

Whilst I don't want to argue but in my mind Nagas and Mullins were less as centres than Croker

Chippo mate, Croker was NEVER a regular centre, whereas Mullins and Nagas each spent at least a season there. get over Croker as a centre.

????? I said I didn't want to argue, don't abuse me for posting my opinion......Jason Croker never spent much time anywhere he was a utility.

U noticed I like the winks....go and have a look at my history and comeback with the amount of winks I do.....

Croker has Furner and Wiki and Clyde in front of him and was ABLE to play centre I don't see the problem in voting for a guy I wouldn't leave out of a team yet wouldn't oust the three names above

He played in the centers a lot in his younger years and went well. You do know he started as a winger right??? He was pretty quick and a completely different player in his early days. The tough thing with these teams is deciding what state along a players career you decide to judge him on, as Wiki and Croker have both changed a lot over their Raiders careers.

This is a comment from edabomb on Croker and his Centre career early on, you were very much against the idea and you alone were the one pointing out your disgust for him being a centre, I am just saying he was a typical centre at the start of his career

yeah i know Croker started as a winger. exactly my point - he wasn't a centre was he?? i actually see your point, it doesn't contradict my argument - i agree with you actually, he probably would have been a good centre. but yeah, i wont argue too much, i've put in my two bobs worth. all i was kidding about the winks, cos i saw how cut you got at Bay for winking at you in another thread ;-).

Croker at centre. I'm sorry, but the suggestion isn't really relevant. We had an AUSTRALIAN centre in Peter Jackson in the position......... I mean you guys really ought to consider the history of the player records and look them up before you vote. This is the least that they deserve.

Croker played wing in 92 and 93. Lock in 94, 95, 96 then starting playing the centers a bit between 97 and 2000. I would definately say he was a better center than Nagas ever was. Primarily because Nagas played center in the post 1999 era of his career, when he was a shadow of his former self. I would say Croker played about the same amount of footy at center as Nagas did. I voted Mullins, has to be in the team somewhere IMO, plus he was a pretty good center. I've never seen anything of Jackson that puts him in Mullins league talent wise.

Greeneyed - if you start judging players off their records then Brett Finch is a State of Origin calibre player    .

Ed ... what are you still doing up at this time of night in NZ?

The bottom line is that Jackson was an incredible centre.... I AM concerned that people here won't even consider him because they didn't SEE him play. He was a truly great player and I am only suggesting people familiarise themselves with the players records before voting.

Mullins is also a great player. This is why I suggested that of all the players, it will between Jackson and Mullins.
