This one isnt official.

News already that Williams is in for Bracken  and Bichel gets another chance. That surprised me some what, but as long as he plays well we cant complain. So yeah its just about to start, C'mon Aussies!

Please let there be no rain!

What are the selectors thinking ?

On a batsman friendly wicket they retain a batsman friendly bowler, like Bichel.

Bracken did not deserved to be dropped.

Zaheer Khan and the Turbinator are out for the Indians, so that probably evens thing up a bit.

What a joke. Bracken bowls well and gets dropped and Bichel bowls like garbage and gets picked. Bichel not only bowled awfully at the gabba but on the tour of India. Disgraceful call.

Current score:

Aus 1/35

Last wicket Hayden c.Patel b.Pathan 12 FOW 1/22

Its going fairly well now. 1/95, with Ponting nearing his 50.

I agree that Bracken can feel hard done by, being dropped.

Got to love the scoring rate of the Aussies - consistantly over 100 runs per session 2/135. Langer got out and they went to lunch.

Well as much as I think Bichel is out of form, and I probably would not have picked him, I am kind of glad the selector showed a bit of faith. Feel for Bracken but I felt for Williams too.

Warne
Bracken/Lee/Williams/Bichel
Gillespie
McGrath

Looks like an attack you would take to India.

5/400 at stumps which is a bloody good first days play. Ponting is still going strong and i look forward to Gilly thrashing them around tomorrow. :D

Any momentum that the Indians seemed to have going into this match was all but diminished today... scoring 400 in a day is no mean feat, but with a flat deck and boundaries as short as Adelaide's are, along with the red hot form of the Aussie batting order, put's it into some form of context.

With Ponting and Gilchrist still at the crease, we could be looking at another score of 600+.

I tipped with the guys at work that he looked like he would make a double century when he walked out and I could be very well right (mind you I say that everytime he walks out for a test match   )

Anyway I really hope he digs in early on the 2nd day and that he does get his highest test score against the side that really gave him the wake up call he needed to turn things around in the test match scene.

Bichel got 3 wickets, take that people who critisised him. I felt sorry for Gillespie not getting his half century.

Does anone rekon SW will follow India on after last time?

The wicket was starting to deteriorate on Saturday.

I don't think that they will want to bat last on this wicket.

Depends what happens today, but it will be easier to bowl them out on the last day, so I think tugga might set them a target and bowl them out.

Or that would be my plan.

I hope Dravid and Laxman can put on a couple of hundred atleast to turn this into an actual match. And maybe if we are lucky we might actually get a 5 day test!

Ha Ha
Well we had one of them up in Brisbane - it was a draw - unfortunately that didn't quite work for the Aussies who were kind of looking for a result called a "win".

It is interesting that in several seasons of Australian Test cricket, the only four draws have been due to rain. At least two of the three Tests against New Zealand washed out easy Australian wins, and the third was tight. The series, in fairness to both sides, should have been 2-1 or 3-0 had rain not affected the respective matches.

Neither side are in a great position to win this match. The current situation favours Australia because of the 70 run lead, and the fact they don't have to bat last. But I suspect India will bat for as long as they can this morning and hope Steve Waugh's competitive juices flow and prompt him to post a total and declare.

Looks like a draw for me.

Can't see 20 wickets falling in the last two days on this wicket.

Admitedly the Aussies probably will not loose 10 wickets in setting a total, but both sides bowling stocks are down and I believe the only result can be a draw.

We'll see.
