yeah true ... good work pou

is this the first time you've asked someone a question on twitter and they haven't banned you?

Or at least ignored me.

It's not easy. If I was famous I wouldn't bother with nuffies on Twitter either.

I've decided it's not really the best place for my style of online interaction. I get my social media fix from you f**ken idiots.

I heard the other night that we are requesting weekly that we get dispensation for Ben Smith being injured.

Wonder if we are also getting/asking for it for Loko and/or Mossop and whether they count as they were not injured this year.

Pou, can you check this with Gus for me?

I'm pretty sure a player has to be out for basically the whole year to get cap dispensation

How would Gus know what parra are doing .He can only answer general cap question or things to do with penrith

I did mean as a general question, although having said that - didnt Gus write an article recently that claimed it would cost Penrith more than their salary cap to pay all the Roosters players? If he is in the know on the value of the Roosters contracts, why wouldnt he be in the know on Parra contracts too?

Is it possible that Harrison is still part of our top 25?

ie: we're still paying him?

I would say he would, since we would have paid him nearly half his salary prior to him being released, plus whatever part of his contract we're also paying him as a release fee.

Interesting Pou, though I don't know if he actually answered your second question. Seems more a general comment on the way the second tier cap works more than a direct answer to your specific question.

If you do the numbers though ED, the default position must be that a second tier player's full annual salary would be added to the 2nd tier cap expenditure once they play a single NRL game. If it was just a pro rata allocation of their base salary we couldn't be anywhere near breaching the limit yet (and how would the proportion be determined, as the number of games played in the year is uncertain?).

All of the above ignores one-off allowances by the NRL.

Then what's the point of releasing a bloke mid-contract if he doesn't free up a top 25 spot? There's the extra cap space but what can you do with it if you can't bring another player in?

What I meant to ask was, is his salary part of our top 25! (ie, are we subsidising more than $80k) - I'm of the opinion that if we're subsidising less than the minimum amount then we could write it off against the 2nd tier cap (if that was beneficial).

I would say he would, since we would have paid him nearly half his salary prior to him being released, plus whatever part of his contract we're also paying him as a release fee.

If this is right, makes me think that we're paying him out of top 25 cap.

I'm lead to believe that the freight that we're currently paying Blair, mullaney and Ryan is coming off our 2nd tier which is the reason why we're struggling to stay under and play players who are part of that group.

I heard Santi got released; anyone heard anything to say that Jnr Paulo will be taking his place in the Top 25 (assuming Santi was in the Top 25) and may play top grade this weekend as a late inclusion.
