A shout out to all those aspiring secondrowers in NRL and beyond. If you think you are getting a raw deal at your club please give Anthony Griffin a call and send a resume with video clips of greatest moments. Details of you background and your aspirations should be included.

It founds like they are waiting for JDB to be cleared ,that might not happen.
Plenty were on offer
Sorenson, Eisenhuth.,ofahengaue, Tom amone who is from souths could play prop or second row.

One year contracts for:-

Tim Glasby
Gavin Cooper
Aiden Guerrera

Bring them out of retirement.

The gate is also wide open for James Graham to return.

Matt Gillett
Adam Blair
Ben Matulino
Peni Terepo

All could be coerced to come back for one more year???

In seasons past when we didn't have enough centres, we used second rowers instead. Surely all we have to do now is put one or two of our excess centres into the second row?

I said this a while ago and was told to be patient. The club had a plan. We weren’t just buying anyone anymore.
Well the season kicks off next Thursday, guess they didn’t have a plan after all.
I guess if no one was available or willing to come they just don't want to spend money on someone for the sake of it and I tend to agree, long term we are just better off trying to work with what we have and see whom Hook can get firing and who he can't I have a feeling the plan is more a mid season signing knowing there will definitely be some drama somewhere. Make no mistake though this is an out and out rebuilding year. If we are even challenging to make the 8 come the last 2-3 rounds Hook as massively overachieved.

Yeah, and if they get lapped all year and get the spoon it’ll be a massive underachievement.
Time will tell.

Does anyone think Rava can play there? Lots other centres or wingers have moved into pack

I don’t believe so Mjab , that type of center or winger needs to be able to compete at full pace against other big men in the forward pack for the entire 80 minutes - minus rests - and I really don’t believe that Rava is capable of doing that .

He was getting use to playing outside of Lomax and the two combined for a number of wonderful tries last season . Also his ball and all defense improved dramatically towards the end of last season - I recall that hit on the Eels winger that left the poor sod sprawled on the ground gasping for air wondering if he had been hit by a freight train or a Kenworth truck .

Still if our current mob continue to perform below par then perhaps Griffin may very well do as you have suggested - nothing wrong in experimenting .

Jesus Banjo, have you noticed how successful the past it / retirement home acquisition policy has been for us the past 9 years ?

How is it that the Bulldogs keep looking for players to add to their squad and we do SFA?

The Bulldogs are reported to be front runners in securing a Broncos second rower as per excerpt from Foxsports as follows:-

"The Bulldogs still appear in the box seat to sign one of the NRL’s best emerging talents in backrower Brendan Piakura. After a couple of false starts, the Brisbane Broncos rookie is believed to be headed to Sydney this weekend for a guided tour of Canterbury-Bankstown’s Belmore facility. Good judges reason Piakura is the best up-and-coming backrower in the game. The teenager had interest from nine NRL clubs but has narrowed it down to his existing club the Broncos or the Bulldogs. The Gold Coast are also an outside chance."

Maybe we were one of the 9 NRL clubs showing interest but as the statement says the guy has narrowed it down to staying at the Broncos or shifting to the Bulldogs and possibly the Titans, who have also been building up their squad.

From my observation, most of the other clubs have big, dynamic forwards and quite athletic as well so that they can vie each week for dominance. Our bunch will feel the brunt of the force from the other bigger men so we need to search high and wide for even bigger guys.
