"No star is worth bending over for"
It's competition, why does it matter if it's with another sport or another club? If Moylan or Cartwright received a big offer from Parra you'd hope Gus would at least bend over a little, get the lube out.
This isn't the same thing at all. But to answer your question I wouldn't want Gus to bend over because it just f**ks our salary cap up, we just came through 10 years of shit because we overspent keeping juniors. We don't have that Rorters salary cap where you can just bring SBW in at the drop of a hat.
I am talking about the NRL bending over and making up rules or giving players exceptions because they might be going to rugby or they want to come back from Rugby.

When has this ever happened? Unless you count the sad merkins at the ARL picking Semi for a Roos jersey, which we all agree is rubbish.
Lucky Gus knows better than you then. You need stars to win comps and stars are always gonna attract outside interest. Be it from other clubs or Rugby.
But I agree with you that exceptions to the rules shouldn't be made. My view though is that the rules should be more accomodating in general, which is another story entirely.
Of course I count that and of course it was a joke. There were calls for him to be allowed to play SOO as well all because "we are going to lose him". Every time a player leaves or threatens to leave we have calls for salary cap exemptions or TPA exemptions or lets get our Dave Smiths 'warchest'. We don't need to do that, if players want to come back they can see who is interested and negotiate like everyone else. I was happy to have SBW come back but the way we prostituted ourselves for him was embarrassing, the guy hurt the game immensely and then we make him the face of the league, some of the channel 9 shit they did was putrid, and predictably 2 years later he is running out for the all blacks again.
Whose ever idea it was to give him a Kangaroo cap needs to be shot.
The problem isn't that he's leaving. We're a small professional sport in an increasingly small world, people are gonna come and go for the best opportunity. All the NRL can do is make itself the most attractive Rugby competition in the world. The insular, small-time attitude of punishing people who leave for a better opportunity needs to die.
The problem is the way he's gone about it. Disappearing for weeks at a time, family members telling the media he's gorn while Parra tells their fans he'll be back at training tomorrow. He looked ready to walk out mid-contract and probably still will.
If he does, hopefully Parra sue him for breach of contract.
Shame him and koribete couldn't have been used, and paid, by the ARLC as amabassadors for the game in Fiji.
The international game and nrl are poorer for not having these exciting try machines in the game.

Yes what a great look for the game to be seen to support domestic violence offenders.
They've supported domestic violence offenders in the past, at least passively, without any care or concern.
Though not sure what that has to do with Koroibete who has no such issue. In fact he has been used to fight DM in Fiji to some extent.

The bigger issue is why the NRL poached a born and bred Fijian for the Kangaroos. The fact he proved to be dodgy on more than one front is a separate issue.
Is it?It's widely known he will be a Bronco in 2019
Of course they should do the right thing. Until it's one of their pet players or clubs. That's the rule isn't it?Is precedent more important than doing the right thing though?
Semi playing for Australia is a disgrace and reeks of schoolyard behaviour.
