During a test match.

That says more than all the negative stuff on the radio even could.

I gotta say that was one of the best waves if seen.....it went for ages and there really wasnt the usualy members section that sits there, gets booed and then it starts after them again.

In terms of the wave it was a 10/10.

But yes the game sucked, NZ were pathetic.

I refuse as a genuine league/cricket fan to ever participate in a mexican wave. I groaned when I heard that it was on during the match. At a rugby league test match? That upset me greatly. More than the result.

Mexican waves started as they say, in mexician soccer matches to entertain the crowd at otherwise dull football matches. I can understand it at a soccer match. In fact I might participate in one then, no dishonour, other than being at a soccer match, but if I found myself inadvertantly at one. But a league match? Time to slash our wrists!

unfortunately thats the type of game it was. NZ never offered anything, and the Aussies taking the early penalty goal was rightly booed by the crowd.

The whole thing was a fizzer, opening ceremony and all.

Lucky the Maori v Aboriginies provided some entertainment.

When I saw it go up I thought "oh feck not the wave" but as waves go it was actually a good one. Hopefully people will at least see how sh*t the so called "big" sides are and realise that watching the smaller teams is actually more entertaining. As I said previously, Tonga/Ireland was 10 times better than the Aus/NZ game.

The best mexican wave I've been apart of was at the cricket a few years ago, Australia vs. Sri Lanka at the SCG. Jayasuria had blasted us during the first innings and we lost both openers pretty quickly and I think it ended up being Ponting and Martyn (can't remember if he'd retired by then) at the crease. They decided the best way to chase down the huge total was to go at 2 an over for the next 45 minutes, so naturally the crowd got bored and the wave got going.

It went around the ground about 9 consecutive times in full-flight and during the last few people ended up chucking their beer cups (some still half full) into their air and onto the ground, which forced the game to be delayed for 5 minutes for the ground staff to remove it off the ground.

To be fair, crowds don't go to ODI matches to see us block it out whilst chasing a huge total (Symonds and Clarke came in later to try and get it going again but Clarke ended up running Symonds out, like he does) and likewise don't go to Rugby League internationals to see one team wrestle the crap out of the other. Who do you think left more satisfied - the 30,000 at the SFS or the 6,000 at Parra?

I went to both and believe me the game at Parra was not only more exciting but had a better atmosphere. 35000 people waiting and pleading for NZ to make the game interesting makes for a sh*te atmosphere. Maybe next time around they won't pick bench players in the forwards and hacks in the backline.

I usually feel the same. But its a WC ffs. It's all a celebration and meant to be fun. I had a laugh at an otherwise ordinary match of football.

When watching and listening to the TV, I thought, what a fantastic atmosphere...

Then I realized nonone was actually watching the footy...

Sounded good though...

Was probably the most interesting part of the match, says a lot about the tournament unfortunately. Australia have lost their best fullback and their best TWO centres but in all likelyhood will still win.

Why can't people concentrate on the games themselves instead of the assumption that Australia will win with no competition? Every game so far, other than the Aus NZ game, has been close, exciting, and quality.
