anybody know why there are so few rounds? With 18 teams in it I would have thought they'd play more than 9 rounds?

I would imagine because alot of players will be preparing to sit High School finishing exams and as such the season can only go so late into the year

I'd say it also has a lot to do with minimising disruptions to local club competitions and for financial reasons. Generally upon the completion of the junior rep season players return to their local clubs for the remainder of the season.

That's pretty much it.

ok thanks. Not having reason to follow SG Ball before it seemed a bit confusing. Is the main purpose of this comp to pick the best under 18's from all NSW junior clubs then feed then into NRL linked sides as a kind of trial for NRL clubs to run the rule over them?

The kids destined for firstgrade usually get picked up for NYC at the end of the Ball season - there's usually only 2 or 3.
I imagine any kid who looks fantastic for your ball side will get offers for the rest of the season - but it might be hard for them to take up the deal.

We've worked hard to put the right systems in place. We still lose some players to the money clubs, and we aren't yet where we want to be with facilities and all those other things that cost money we don't have. But the progress and changes we've made seem to be starting to pay off on the field. Long way to go yet, but hopefully in a few years no one will be in the least surprised to see us at the top of these tables.
