Noddy won't be seen in green

The lure of a post-football career in the Sydney media is likely to prevent Brett Kimmorley from joining the Canberra Raiders next year. The Canberra Times understands Kimmorley will inform the club this week that he will knock back its offer to play in the national capital in 2011.
The news comes as another contractual distraction for the Raiders, who are in the midst of finalising their player roster for next season.
In the space of a month the club has missed out on experienced halves Kimmorley and Trent Barrett, informed veteran Troy Thompson he would not be required next year as the club closes in on Brett White, and remained in talks with Glen Buttriss about a possible extension.
The contract issues come at a challenging time for the team, which remains in the NRL finals hunt but must win its remaining five matches to qualify for the play-offs.
Thompson reacted badly to his axing, admitting he was ''filthy'' and that it was a ''crap feeling'' to be told you are no longer wanted after a decade of service.
Coach David Furner conceded having to deal with such issues in the lead-up to the finals was far from ideal but he remained confident his players' mindset remained on reaching their on-field goals.
''There's always a time during the year when you have to make decisions on different players,'' Furner said. ''It's a situation that all clubs go through and we're doing that at the moment.
''The job I've undertaken and what I've got at the moment is I have to make some tough decisions.
''Unfortunately there has been some tough decisions made. It's never easy but what I'm looking out for is the squad for next year.
''Our main focus, and I know the squad's is, is Monday night's game [against Penrith].''
Returning skipper Alan Tongue admitted it would be easy to get distracted from football when contract dramas were being played out mid-season. But he said the players should be used to it by now as it's not a new thing.

Not the end of the world. I read A.Johns wants a fulltime gig working with our halves.

We are going to be alright next year , we have the superstar frontrower B.White coming.

Is it fair that Fox can sway a current player from going to Canberra with a contract? Why can't he still do some of the part time stuff like he does now with them like the Toyota Cup and Tactics?

Just shut the f**k up, deal with the fact we are banking on McCrone to deliver and start supporting him. He has shown plenty of promise and is still young and finding his feet in first grade.

Yeah I don't really get why that stops him from playing here. I guess it is media speculation as to why he turned us down. Logan has previously commuted back and forth from Sydney to train and play, plus Woolford has a gig at Fox Sports yet lives in Canberra. Don't see how something couldn't be arranged.

the problem is with campese not mccrone. If the guy actually stood up and took control it wouldn't matter who played halfback.

why can't thompson be re-signed with some of this kimmorley money?

Orford still wants a contract hes probably our last shot unless our old favourites MM hits the market.

While that's true, it's not exactly an ideal situation. Logan has stated as such before. I'm sure we've all done the Sydney to Canberra and vice versa trip. I'd personally hate doing it so often, I can definitely see it being a clincher in what seems to be a tough decision for Noddy.

Not exactly the best of banking....the real problem has been Canberra's ability to control and keep the previous two halves before McCrone...who we never would of heard of if we had managed to keep either Finch or Carney...instead we are settling. Canberra know it, hence they are looking around for another.

Cut McCrone, use the money that was to be used for Noddy and bring back Finch. That is the best option available to us. I dont think Orford is the answer either. I think Finch might give Campese a kick up the butt with his aggressive game nature.

finch has signed with wigan. Not that he would have wanted to return anyway and looking past the fact that he's rubbish.

campo ran wild when he had herb beside him, campo is the reason why the halves have faulted. He just isnt doing enough in the halves.

Campo makes an error or a poor kick and nothing is said, meanwhile mccrone does the same thing and people on here act like he is giving cancer to orphans.

At the end of the day, Mccrone is on welfare payments compared to the Campo who is killing it financially and doing nothing to warrant it.

Agreed. Campo has been very poor for most of the year but I don't mind criticising the bald merkin!

I thought this topic referred to the fact that the bumbling, incompetent Ben Cummins has yet again been appointed to ruin one of our games.

lol... I gave up remember which was the worst ref... It's like trying to memorise 30 shades of red... at the end of the day they are just all red...

Only name I really remember ref wise is Chris Ward, If he is video ref it's "No Try" for the Raiders unless people gone blind by having the logo of the team we are playing tattooed on their eye agree it was a fair try to us... So basically never if he can find anything that maybe, under a different coloured light or a slightly slanted universe maybe, would deny us the try...

well its good thompson is gone as he isnt an impact player we need but white isnt that great either, pity we not going for halves or a winger which we need as well

I honestly think the only thing we need is someone to lead out there... Will be interesting to see what happens with Tongue not in a hooker/half role... I think he will go great off the bench or at lock next week (hopefully).
