Why not. Elliott by his own admissions doesn't like change.................... unless it is changing the entire culture of a team.

With an RPI of -4 Rodneys performances are worse than that of the average NRL player.

I dont often support the club's decisions, but on this occasion, Im sorry, but I find myself in agreement with the club.

A decision in the clubs best interests.

Good luck to Rodders.

Imagine how awful you would feel putting on the Manly jersey.

They lied to him about their future.

They have as much chance of winning a grand final than Michael Diamond has of not hitting a hurtling clay pigeon.

Manly are a fair chance. The only team that is absolutely no chance of ever winning are the Sharks. They are perennial chokers.

1. Manly executive director Paul Cummings denied the Orford package was worth $690,000 per year.
"It's $1.8 million over four years," he said.
Year 1 - $350k (2006)

Year 2 - $550k (2007)

Year 3 - $600k (2008)

Year 4 - $300k (2009)

That's $300k in the kitty for Orford
Beaver is on $250k per season
Bell is on $200k per season
Afamasaga (estimate only) $70k per season
Williamson (estimate only) $100k per season
Bryant (estimate only) $100k per season
TOTAL IN KITTY:--------------------------$1,020,000

We have signed Williams for $150k (apparently - but I suggest much less)
We have signed Bailey for $150k
We have signed Hodgkinson for $70k
Leaving $650k for:-

1. Rodney at say $150k
2. Ballin at say $100k (extra than he is earning now)
3. Say Orford numbers are wrong, and he's actually STILL getting $500k this season

That STILL leaves us with $200k in the kitty for upgrades. OR 1/2 a million odd if Orfords numbers are actually right.

I hope this kind of helps with Manly's cap questions.

Yeah but dude - he was upgraded last year, meaning this year he is receiving those payments. Just because you get upgraded one year, doesn't mean the salary will increase exponentially from that point.

Remember - contracts are priced so that some players can receive larger payments in certain years of those contracts.

Melbourne is the prime example. Look at their squad. Yeah, they've been found to cheat the cap 6 from the past 8 years (but have paid fines), but generally it's not big amounts. They tier.....they don't have the Halls, Ballins, Williams, Williamsons etc in their team. Thy are chockers full of International players.

We are under, and well under IMO.

Manly CEO has stated they can not afford carney as the will have no room under the cap for him in 2010

you are kidding if you think menzies was on 250.

He took massive paycut last year to $125k to stay with manly...and then Manly claimed the 10 year player rule which exempts $100k of that..

so don't give me that bullcrap.

And I know exactly what Rodney is on...and its more than $150k I can guarantee that.

I would love it if they were cheating the cap and lost all their points after this week.
I would be sooooooooo happy.
But then again that gives no competition for Melbourne.
But i tell you who i think will win it this year. The Knights.
you may think its impossible without beddsy but they are serious contenders.
I would love to see the Knights win it this year.

Cutherbertson deserves an upgrade, astonishing speed and ball skills for a man of his size.

But I didnt rate Manly as a genuine GF chance when the Sharks had Bird.

Now things have changed somewhat.

But they are nothing as opposed to the Storm.
