Shane Webcke

A few of us Eels fans had the pleasure of meeting this bloke after the game on Sunday and have to say that he is an absolute legend. Not only did he have a cracker of a game, he was great to meet and talk to after the game.

You blokes are so priveledged to have such a hard working, clean player in your team. I think I can also say that he has left a good lasting impression at Parramatta, and we will certainly miss him playing at Parramatta Stadium.

Thought you might appreciate an outsiders perception on the great Shane Webcke.

Cheers Parra Guru ... he's been a great role model ... a man of his word, and a man to respect who's always fulfilled his role in the team to the untmost. And by the sounds of it a decent human being as well.

Great stuff to hear, I don't think we realise just what affect his retirement is going to have on the club.

I think we have the potential in Hannant, Taylor, Parker etc, give them a few more years and hopefully they'll come good. But yeah they are no where near Webke's standard.

We've got plenty of good young props but in terms of the leadership and experience, work ethic etc that he brings to our club, that's going to take a while to replace. I think Petero will step up next year and do a great job but once he goes as well then we've got a big hole to fill.

When Lazzo left at the end of 1997 there were ??? and Webcke stood up for the next 9 yrs.
There will be other props who will come along..maybe not in the class of webby and lazzo, but just as good
