With Richards up and walking my hopes were lifted a little that he may get to play. No offence to McDonnell but I really hope he makes his GF debut next year.

All the hype surrounding McDonell just goes to show it's good to have the old man as the West Tigers recruitment Manager pushing you along - it's an insult to all the players who have worked hard to get the Tigers to where they are today - he's done nothing to earn a mention yet - just goes to show it's who you know - well time will tell

Bullsh*t!

The facts are simply that McDonell is the next best winger at the club.
Reick is crap.
Miles is only slightly better.
Collis hasn't trained with the squad for a while due to injury.
Wilson is no winger.
Elford, Whatuira, & Halatau are going too well to be moved from the positions they are now playing.

It's a no brainer. First choice Richards, next best McDonell

True, plus his Dad is the NSW U/19s coach and all

You obviously have never seen the guy play.

As I said his father is the West Tigers recruitment manager and NSW under 19's coach - most players make it by themselves on merit - he'll never be able to say that under the circumstances will he

When he starts playing consistent first grade, I expect you back here to wipe the egg of your face.

Warren is not the NSW U/19's coach, he isn't the manager, he isn't a selector, he has nothing to do with rep sides. Shannon on the other hand has plenty to do with rep sides purely because he is a gun. NSW U/19's this year and will be again next year - he was still eligible for Ball this year. No one has been clearing Shannon's path for him - he can do it just fine by himself. Shannon will be able to say he made it himself on merit and anyone with even the slightest idea about footy will know it's true. You on the other hand will I'm sure be able to find plenty of excuses as to why you're a failure.

I got a little bored at work just now and was looking for some old threads relating to the 05 Semi but found this gem instead.

Pearlers like "safe under the high ball", "streak flashing by", and "good in defence".

My lasting memory of the "flashing streak" that's "elusive in traffic and open space" was getting chased down by that god-bothering cutie PJ f**king Marsh.

But the best bit - "McDonnell will be the first Magpie junior to play for Australia while still at Wests". Classic.

To be fair to McDonnell he has been reasonably solid for the Knights when given the opportunity.

He obviously hasn't lived up to the high expectation placed on him all those years ago, but nor has he really been given the opportunity to play consistent first grade - he has always faced a massive tussle with other fullbacks.

I've only ever seen him play one good game, ever
playing on the wing against penrith at penrith, in 07 i think.

we lost but he looked pretty good.
since then, fringe first grader at best.

14 wins from 46 first grade games (across two clubs) - 30% success rate.

A record that makes Tim Sheens look like a hybrid of Sir Alex Ferguson & Phil Jackson!
