Sharks are not Pretenders

A win away tonight in Melbourne has radio broadcasters stating that we are the real deal in 2005 and are not pretenders. The strength of the team is the bench. Week after week our bench looks better than most other teams and performs as such. Tonight HUTCH, BIRD, SULLIVAN and LEULUAI dominated when they came on against the Storm.

I would imagine we would make the eight even if we were to win only 7 or 8 of the last 17 games (plus bye). We must be specials ;-)

No doubt we are the real deal.

Great defence and our attack should improve as the year goes on.

I'd like to see our completion rate improve - still pushing too many passes for my liking.

Just shows why the bench should of been managed better last week.
No Sulli again for the first half hour but notice he was left on a lot longer this week.
Maybe a few events (eg. simmons) forced matters.
I continue to be impressed by Reece Williams.
He does a heap of the dirty work.
The $3.50 an hour he's on is a real bargain.
Give the kid a pay rise.

don't worry about mighty. schoolboys often express their infatuations by means of insults and abuse. being too shy to express their feelings openly to the object of their affection, they resort to moody obsession and petty insults in a vain attempt to win the attention of their secret love.

it's just a stage mighty's going through as he develops. reefy can't help his romance novel good looks and i'm sure mighty will get over it in a year or two and hopefully go on to lead an active, almost normal life.

Great tough win, the match tonight was like a semi final win, and great how we come back after last weeks performance

I think last weeks performance was due to the BYE. We were on a roll before it. The rest broke the momentum.

Besides they weren't that bad. They started like a house on fire and a close call on another try in the first half could have seen us out to 18 - 0, a score that would have eventually won the game as it turned out.

The defence was good again as missed tackles were covered. We have great cover defence this year and they seem to have their discipline back...

Things look good for a top 4 spot.

Loved the free flowing attack and the defence.

If we can get the bench right, the selections right, complete the sets and keep lowering the missed tackles, we can win the comp.

The team is certainly there for it.

Just had a look at the stats for last night (after the second run thru).

Our MT was exactly on our average for the year.

Here is the really pleasing part - Storm were close to 50% above their MT average.
We completed 77% of set, they only completed 59%
We only had 12 errors compared to the average of 19, they were spot on average
We had 6 line breaks and they had 2 - they average near 8 LB a game (til last night!)

So we forced them in to a huge MT rate (for them) and maintained our normal display. There MT's cost them line breaks and we took advantage. We did not drop the ball with the huge amount of offloads we had and we scored another 5 tries.

Our trend is that we are maintaining a consistency that is forcing teams in to mistakes.

Last nigt was a dominating performance that had me jumping and singing. As Sk and others have pointed out a few things still to improve and we are 8 bound and very conceivably top 4. I share millers caution about becoming dragonised but damn we look good.

My negative for the night - STEVO WAS NOT AWARDED THAT TRY!!!!!!!! DAMN!
