Covell 4
Goldy 5
Aitken 6
Noddy 7

bench
mellars
Mellor

Get bailey & williams out of the back line.
Change the game plan to include all of the backs, not just Vagana.

You'd drop Simmons and keep Covell? Covell is a myth, but otherwise I agree with you reefy. Also I think Noddy is more injured than Dykes.

Is that plan with Dykes at hooker?

If so I dont mind it, I would rather Simmo on the wing than Goldy tho.

Next week's backs

1.PEACHEY
2.SIMMONS
3.VAGANA
4.MELLARS (Adds size and speed but needs to show he can score tries)
5.MERRITT (Goal kicker and adds more speed)
6.DYKES
7.KIMMORLEY (Needs some decoy runners badly)

yes Dykes to hooker. also makes Hilds an 80 minute player on the left side.
simmo hs to go.
As next years fullback he needs as much time in pl as possible to learn the game.
Covell reads the defense well. may not offer all tht much in attack but if he doesnt get into the game we could could bring on mellars or mellor to have a swing.
My back line is all about strengthening the left side in defense in bringing in somebody who has genuine speed, not media speed.

Also, goldy is our best centre potential.
he is so down on confidence it is not funny. he will play back into form on the wing & then possibly be another centre option.
he is also much faster than Simmons.

If you still have Bailey at R3/R4 doing his cleanups and cutoffs I like it because it means giving the side balance across the park. If it's not Hilder, due to injury, it has to be someone else for 80 at L3/L4.

That's been a huge problem this year. Bailey has been a constant, bar one anomaly vs Parramatta, and the right side defence is the more stable side. But with the bizarre interchanges, not only time wise but personnel wise, the left side has a different guy 3 or 4 in right through the game. We have up to 6 blokes filling that role in any one game. It's not stable and it's not consistent.

If we went with "mirrored" defence - same both sides we would leak less on the left and it would stop the isolation that happens with the left centre/winger.

The only change I'd consider is with 9,6 & 7.

I think Noddy need time off. I'd consider that which means Addo has to stay at 6 or 7 with Rusty Acorn. Preferably 7 for Dykes. I'd use Kinga as hooker for 80 in that case.

The reasoning is we are getting nothing out of an unfit Noddy anyway. He may as well try and get right as the likelihood is that we will still make the semis. In fact I am starting to think this will be one of those years where 26 points will be enough.

Dykes is carrying as well but his injury is such that it can't be made worse by playing even though it needs attention and he has indicated he will play till he can't or till the season is over. Whichever comes first.

You are right about Goldy's confidence. It has been so low he thought he had to play with the broken jaw in order to keep himself in front of the eyes of those watching. Maybe not the best move in hindsight but it's done now.

We might also find him as a 6. He's asked for a run there and has the skills.

BTW Rogers is still going hard to retain Goldy. That RLW story was bullsh*t.

i would put
1. Peach
2. Simmo
3. Vags
4. Mellars
5. Merritt
that's what I was going to write
and that's what our backline should look like

Covell to PL (needs a rest)
Mellor to recover rom injuries then retire
Galloway to PL- do we really want to develop him for the Tigers?

Stosic in the number 8
Hutch stay on bench

No Way!!

Our stand out player in the backline.

The backs only start to look like they're going to do something when Dykes or Peachey have the ball in hand.Send Noddy on a holiday and bring Aitken into half.
1. Peachey
2. Simmons
3. Vagana
4. Mellars
5. Merritt
6. Dykes
7. Aitken

Many years ago Dykes played replacement hooker and did an excellent job. Me? I think the time may have come to give Kingston and Aitken a go. Our top names showed nothing against last season's spoon holders last night.

Goldy is faster than Simmons...proven ffact. As btr has said, we need a player with real speed, not media speed.

1. Peach
2. Merrit
3. Vagana
4. Mellars
5. McGoldrick
6. Aitken
7. Dykes

9. Kingston
